I did the same I got a extra mod ( limited production mind you from Greece ) I did not order. I contacted the Vendor and put the mod in the mail to the rightful owner. Who was in Europe. The Vendor offered to give me my money back for being honest but I refused and accepted reimbursement for shipping only.
My reasoning is I should not get payed for doing the right thing. The grateful email I got from the intended owner was worth more that the 200+ dollars.

I remember this!

The Lion smiles approvingly.

I think people who feel their needs are being met in life are content, and if you are content you tend to be honest. And that doesn't mean you have to have a lot of stuff, you could be poor as a church-mouse, but feel CONTENTMENT.

People who are dishonest don't have that nice feeling. So they have to sort of "make up for it" someplace else. They will take a freebie that doesn't belong to them, or the extra change from the cashier, or the wallet they find and don't turn in, or sell you something that doesn't work, and they are happy about the $ they put in their pocket, because that is their idea of "successs and contentment."

I imagine the 'more more more more more' frame of mind would be a rather miserable place to reside..... but I try to give them my compassion, because they NEED it.

It is often the hardest thing to try to love those who are most unlovable, and try to be compassonate to those who have lost their way in terms of moral compunction........but, if the message of love your neighbor was so *easy* to practice, it would be practiced more.

The reality is that it's hard. It's real hard. So we all will often take the easier way. :) It's human nature.

Meanwhile you just gotta try to "take up the slack" for them, by doing the right thing. It's like the counter-action, like the antidote to a snakebite.

I've been thinking about this and I vented away here, I'm not better then these people. I do stupid things too. Lots of stupid things. I just was disappointed because they are adults and not little kids stealing a Bonnie Bell lipgloss or candy from Thrifty Drug and Discount. And we all know theft drives up prices. Anyways, I'm not wanting to lead a lynch mob or publicly humiliate these people. They already did that themselves by posting it. I'm not going to post links. If you doubt the validity of what I said, others state there is one in the fasttech thread and I told you there was one in the British thread which you can find easily because I commented on it. You can use the search yourself for free ego or what not. Sorry, I just don't feel comfortable.

I too stole something as a freshman in high school. From my locker mate. I was old enough to know better. And I denied it. So stole and lied. lol

When I was a kid (like 5 or 6 maybe, I definitely knew better), I took a pack of gum from the grocery store because my mom wouldn't buy it for me. She caught me with it when we got in the car. She marched me right back in that store, took me to the manager and made me not only apologize and give it back, but also admit that I had taken it when I knew it was wrong.

The store manager? She was a dear friend of the family. I was in tears.

I've never. Ever. EVER. stolen anything again. *laughing*

<snip>

Haha - I did this with my older son when he was about that age. I believe it was some marbles from a bag of marbles that had broken open. We marched back into the store but the manager almost screwed me up. She was so charmed by this cute little boy who was so obviously distressed that she started comforting him and telling him it was alright. I had to make wild motions at her from behind his back and shake my head 'no' before she got the idea.

My sister later told me I shouldn't have done that because "it was such a little thing". :glare:

Oh, I think it's fine to vent. :) You should not stop doing THAT. Just because we are imperfect doesn't mean we are not entitled to an opinion, or a perspective, or comment on stuff or behaviors we don't approve of.

The point is, it's okay WHEN I realize that I myself am imperfect.

It's the (few) people I run into every now and again, who truly believe they are perfect, or at least they seem to think that, because they seem to think that if the entire world was run with their ideas, morality, politics, religion.....(or whatver)......that all the problems would go away because they have all the answers. :)

That last type is really the only ones who REALLY ANNOY ME. :lol:

I got into a little gossip thing yesterday, with some neighbors.......felt a tad guilty afterwards, but I have to admit, it was somewhat "delicious" the way rich chocolates are even though they are bad for your figure. :) It's human to be a little bad or catty sometimes, as long as it is not really injurious, angry, ugly, or bully behavior....we try to keep it kinda comical.

I do try to give things their proper perspective, so I save my wrath for the really bad stuff, like people who abuse animals. I struggle very hard with them, most of the ones I have met are either very very ignorant, or just psychologically sick. You use the laws on your side to try to go after them.....and then sometimes, you just have to keep rescuing animals to make up for it. Ditto with elder abuse, child abuse, etc.

So, I try not to give too much of my "energy" to just everyday "jerk behavior", since there really is so much really worse stuff to focus one's consciousness and efforts toward, right?

I take the pens. I keep them, sort of like souvenirs.
That's funny, cuz when I was a smoker, I used to pick up lighters. Then a friend would say "did you pick up my lighter?" and I'd look in my purse and there it was~!

Anyone remember doing that? Had so many lighters, all sizes, shapes, colors, never could tell mine from others. LOL

Bravo! You taught your son a very important lesson by doing that (in spite of the manager LOL). My little "incident" was 50 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday!

People used to do that to me all the time. I started feeling bad that I had to frisk them when they left to get my lighters back. Eventually I just stopped inviting them over.
