Hey guys, new vaper guy here. A couple quick qiestions.

1- I just got an ego twist and a vivi nova tank and love it! Just wondering, how low on juice can I get before refilling the tank? that may sound dumb, but I dont want to run my tank too dry and have something get ruined or burnt up. Can i just vape until no more vapor comes out? or should I stop vaping a little earlier and refill?

2- can I flip my mod (i guess it is) upside down and not have any issues with flooding or juice dripping out? Im not saying i would even intentionally flip it upside down, but just in case it does happen am wondering if anything will get ruined.

thanks!

Hello and welcome.

1. If I'm home and it's handy, I try to top off my tank if I go below half. You can go as low as a 1/4 or less, but you should keep it tipped on its side as much as possible to keep those wicks wet.

2. This can depend on how good of a seal your cap has with that inner silicone cup. I've been using vivis for about 9 months and not had any leaking issues beyond a little buildup under the drip tip. If you are having problems with that, take the drip tip out when you screw the cap on and watch that it lines up well with the silicone cup inside and there are no gaps. Nothing should get ruined even if you do experience some leaking.

Best of luck!

I use Vivi Nova tanks almost exclusively in my set ups and I haven't had any problems with leaking whatsoever with the unit on it's side over night. I haven't held it upside down for an extended period of time but I would imagine it would depend on the viscosity of your juice and the design of the Vivi Nova tank itself. There are many different designs of Vivi Nova tanks and I happen to have the Smok Tech's which probably would have an extremely slow leak if held upside down for a few hours. I've seen other designs from Steam Monkey which have a tighter draw and a more solid seal to the top cap which probably wouldn't leak but I prefer the Smok Tech's anyway actually because I'm not going to hold it upside down for a long time and it has a better draw. As far as filling goes I've heard some people complain about wicking on the Nova's and if you experience a dry hit when the tank is at a certain point you would want to fill before it hits that point and tilt it on it side on occasion to help the wicking when it gets low. I personally have never had a problem with wicking so I will fill when it gets low or sometimes I will just fill because I'm near my bottle. It never hurts to keep it full because you don't know when you might have to run out quick and forget to fill it.

Top coils clearomizers like the vivi nova are known as position dependent, meaning they have to be tipped once the tank level gets a little low, in order to keep the coil saturated. Since I can easily outvape my vivi's, I had to switch to a bottom coil. It doesn't take me long to get a dry hit, if I don't pretty much keep it tilted. As such, the vivi's are designed to be held upside down without leaking. Only a bad seal, or too much juice in the air chamber is going to cause a leak anyway. You should be fine tipping, tilting, etc. your vivi nova.

Thanks MS1055! I have not had any issues with leaking so thats good. Was curious about the upside down thing because i thought maybe the thing would flood and drip juice all over the place if it somehow flipped over. Also dont want juice all over my car/clothes if it flips and juice comes pouring out.

Or just vape horizontally. People in bars particularly like it when you have a lie down in the middle of the room to have a vape.

As the tank gets emptier you'll need to roll it around more to keep the wicks wet. You can vape it dry if you like without doing any real harm, but you probably won't want to cos it starts to taste a bit burnt.

I often leave mine on it's side for a bit, especially if the tank is getting low. I haven't experienced any leaks.

1: if you let it get too low the juice will heat up and darken. Especially if it's clear and your coil is dirty. You can let it get down to the bottom but your quality of vape will drop drastically. It's also harder on your coil, which will require cleaning if you go on like this too long or too many times. Dry burn your coil after a thorough wash, after you dry the wicks with a paper towel and hair dryer.

2: it's not going to leak but if you accidentally burn through a wick by dry burning (easier to do with the thinner, low ohm heads) and lose 1 or 2 the opening under the rubber cap will be enlarged and you will flood your coil. This will result in a low vapor production, and leaking juice into your battery's juice well. It will cost you a great deal of juice and frequent cleaning of your battery. Ejuice is non-conductive, for the record. The combination of flooding and battery non-conductivity will pretty much suck for you. That's why the thinner wicked heads come with an extra wick on top, if that was a mystery for you - to help fill that hole at the top. Dry burning will eventually kill the wick, and thus, the coil. The best way to prolong that is to blow on the coil after a brief ignition. This will encourage the burning of more soot off the coil instead of more melting through the wick. Do NOT blow on the coil while hitting the battery button. The extra oxygen will overheat the coil and cause a failure. It may even damage some batteries irreparably. Don't find out the hard way. Also, using a pin to scratch the crud off can help. Do NOT hit the button while touching the coil with metal or it will destroy the battery forever (if it's an ego style). The battery has a safety overload circuit that, once tripped, will disable the device forever. If it did not do so the battery would explode.

Awesome, great info ShogNinja! Yeah was I just looking into getting a Kanger Pro Tank and i think those have that extra wick in there. NOW i know why thats there? If i do get one i will probably take it out like most people suggest.

So i just vaped a vivi nova dry today and i started getting a burning taste. I though i had more juice in there but when i looked it was all gone. My vivi is the aluminum one so its hard to see the juice inside without always unscrewing the top and checking. Good to know that it won't do any real damage.

Thanks guys! I am loving vaping so far!!
