just did the cotton thing and now all its doing is spitting juice at me
i give up screw this thing... garbage

I've had many customers as of late dissatisfied with the Pro tanks. All wicking issues. I suspect a bad batch of wicks. Replace it with a wick from an EVOD or similar. They're not exact but they fit. Has solved the issue for quite a few people I have dealt with.

Re-wicking with cotton improves the performance dramatically, IMO. If you get gurgling, just add some cotton as a flavor wick..

As an earlier poster said, the protank II mini seems to be a good performer, my wife uses one every day without complaint (believe me, if there was the slightest problem I would hear about it, ha!)

But with all mass-manufactured products there's bound to be some duds here and there, and I'm sure QC does some slipping to meet quota.

I have used PT I/II/III and can certainly relate to OP's frustration. Build and finish quality of PT is far better than other tanks and we expect the performance to match that. Unfortunately, I found that PT does require some "tweaking" to make it work. And when it does work, it kicks .... Awesome cloud with full taste, thanks to bottom coil design. However, bottom coil attracts "crap" since they settle to the bottom. After using these for a while, I concluded that it isn't for people who needs "dead simple/easy to use" tanks. I used iClear 30s and they are far "easier" to use. Yes, they are messier to clean and doesn't give you as strong of flavor. But it has tons of wicks (compare to PT) and tend to last longer. So, for those who doesn't want to bother with cleaning/dry burning, iClear might be better option. I change the coil on PT every 2 - 3 tank fill. A single coil in iClear lasted almost a month. I still use PT since I can rebuild the coil on those pretty easy and dry burning is pretty simple for me. But I can totally see how these are ridicules for some people who just want to vape.

Not sure if this was mentioned before, but one thing you should do on new coil is to ramp up the voltage slowly. Don't set it at 4volt and hit it on the new coil. No matter what the resistance is, start low (3.0 or 3.2v) and slowly ramp it up. This helps coil "settle" in better and avoid popping it.

I've got a box full of tanks that I no longer use since I bought my Kanger Pro Tank 2, $15.00 & Pro Tank 2 Mini. 14.00. The Kanger Pro Tank 2 is by far the BEST Single Bottom Coil tank on the market today. I've never "flipped the rubber upside down". It sounds like you are having issues with the changeable coils. The Kanger coil heads are very easy to rebuild. I have rebuilt Smok coil heads and they are pressed together so hard that it's almost impossible not to damage them during disassembly. I like to vape 100% VG based juice & I've found 2mm hollow silica with 8 wraps of 30 ga. Kanthal A1 gives me 2.2 ohms & works best, also doesn't leak with 100% PG either. Last longer than 32 ga. which is too difficult for me to work with ( it's tiny wire) but for higher ohms I can't fit enough wraps with the 30ga.
You can put a 1mm solid "flavor wick" on top, but I don't & cannot tell any change is flavor without it. The HOLLOW silica seems to be the key to this. I don't rebuild coil heads out of the box (yet), but I kinda look forward to them going bad because mine are much better. Yep, I love the Pro Tank 2's. They're the best so far!

Install a new atomizer, leave the rubber gasket alone.
Fill the tank reassemble and prime the atomizer.
Priming the atomizer is just the act of drawing juice into the wick. Do about 6 draws on the tank without firing the battery.
Turn the battery down to 3.5 or below
Do three or four short draws (1 or 2 seconds on the fire button) until you begin getting vapor production.
Vape normally and adjust battery voltage up/down to what vapes best.
At the first hint of burnt taste decrease the battery voltage a little.

One last thought. Are the atomizers you are using Kanger protank, evod, or some knockoff?

Note: I own over half a dozen Protank and Protank 2s never have I had problems like you've described.

Best Of Luck

Not to jump off the OP's topic, but just bought my first Protank 2, well i have two now(sortof) the first one i got was missing the top rubber gasket in the top cap so it leaked bad when i first tried to fill it. Took it back to my local store(owner rocks), he took a look at it and said "Yep its missing"... LOL anyways he just grabs another from case and we check it and it had all the o rings :). Then he gives me the other one for "parts" then told me where i could get replacement o rings :) I love my local store and awesome prices as well.... Anyways with that said..... LOL

Is there anyway to tighten up the draw on it... its a little too light for me but its liveable... so just wondering :)

Thx in advance

I run an air flow controller on all of my protank 2's helps if you want to get a little tighter draw or the airy draw. I prefer more on the duty side so I don't flood the tanks since I'm running cotton wicks. Plus it helps save the threads on my device when I swap tanks 3-4 times a day.

HAPPY VAPING!

So its true, latest protank1&2 authentic heads are bad. Probably not all, but many. 1.5 ohm and 2.5 ohm

1 wrap/starting wrap in coil is so too big and glows/burns while fired/used. Manufacturing process while assembling went bad i guess.

I have to give a huge thumbs down for Protank 2.

Absolutely the worst tank I have had by a long margin. I wasted way too much time, juice, kanthal and wick trying to get it to work.
I have a Innokin VTR and DNA 30 box mod which gave me virtually unlimited voltage/wattage settings so it wasn't my device.
No wattage settings, wicking, coil build, even stock coils would stop that piece of crap from gurgling, spitting juice up in my mouth or getting dry hits, and just leaking juice all day. Horrible, just horrible.

I happened to get an Iclear 30s and a Kanger Aerotank at about the same time and both worked beautifully compared to the Protank 2.

Do not waste your money on a P2. Head over to FastTech or wherever and get a decent Kayfun clone for the same money.
Or if you want a non-rebuildable device, Iclear 30s is such a sweet vape.

The Aerotank is very similar in build to the P2 and works well too.
Kanger was just smart enough to raise the coil up enough off the deck so it could be used/rebuilt without major flooding problems if your wick isnt perfect.

Anything but a P2....thats all .....almost anything.

I started off rebuilding mini protanks 'cause cents in wire and wick means frugal, and fun. It wasn't fun long.

I went to a rebuildable drip after a few weeks, then to a kayfun mini 2.1 clone. Months later, this is solid, no matter your battery- from 14500 mech mod to ego to 18xxx vv mod. Spend the extra money (my clone cost $50) and get a real atomizer. I refuse to fight for my addiction. It has to be easy to keep me from tobacco.

I run cotton, change the wick every 2 days or so, my coil I remake every 3 weeks or so (when it gets so brittle it snaps on rewicking).

I grab a small screwdriver, make 8 twists with my 30 awg kanthal = 1.6 ohms. This takes 10 min from start to finish (only 5 to change/make my wick).

Edit: On the rare chance my tank gurgles (right after refilling), I turn it upside down, push the button, and blow through the air hole. When a good cloud comes out, I won't gurgle again until I refill (as long as the wick ends are on the juice holes). I have a friend with a real Kayfun lite. Mine is much better (I guess the mini is a better design, the lite doesn't clear when you blow, juice bubbles out the air adjust hole- even w/screw in).

Buy a top quality atomizer. Kanger is crap.

Edit 2: Not to mention the Kayfun mini 2.1 has a port one can use to refill (with out opening the tank) if the proper needle tip bottle is used. Just push it in, and squeeze. Tank is filled. The atomizer is the same diameter as a typical ego battery.

Ive gotta say im shocked to find this thread. I have a Kanger Protank 2 and an aerotank adjustable airbase and its fantastic.

Ive never had a leak, ive never had it spit juice in my mouth, the coils are extremely easy to rebuild or rewick, it looks good, and the vape is great. Since I use a thick juice, I rewicked with organic cotton balls and the result is amazing. I cant stand the iclear30 compared to the protank 2. For anyone with problems and still in warranty, take it back- you had to have gotten a bad one.
