From what I know about it some people get it in different ways.... With some people it disables them in certain ways.... With others it has the opposite effect as it tends to accentuate certain abilities. I have never been disabled from it. If anything it has always been the opposite. The only thing that has been screwy with me from it is in regards to being social. I don't mind being on the web and yakking at people but get me around more than a few people and I clam up big time.
what you lose in social skills you gain in other areas. it allows you to see and understand things that most people can't even imagine. and social skills can be learned. " a good actor becomes the character he is playing". comedy is also a good way to connect with others on a comfortable level.many people with Asperger's are very successful in business and science. you should see it as a gift and not a handicap

Wow, I never really thought of it like that...Man you sound schooled in this stuff...I always have been in science all my life (electronics and programming)....Is this why? Or is it just because that is what I like....I suppose I am a bit confused.

ever see the movie "a beautiful mind". a man with a serious emotional disorder won the noble prize for developing game theory. when one part of you is damaged other parts become stronger to compensate. I studied electrical engineering and am very interested in theories that challenge quantum theory as well as ancient philosophy and religion . I am clearly not normal but have had a very enjoyable life by using what I have and not worrying about what I can't do

perhaps we are the next stage in human evolution and just a little ahead of our time HOHOHOHOHO. cultures that value knowledge and self discipline are much more successful than those that value feelings and human emotions. yes i am a member of the club. I was also a member of alpha in the mid 70's. that new series scorpion is about people like us

    Wow. .....
I wake up and get to read like, 8 new pages and all these great people are popping in.
And I find out all the people I look forward to taking to here are just as "weird" or ..... great as I assumed.
Got ta say. ..... nice way to wake up.
Lanye, see what you gone and started here?
I have to get to work,
But wanna say, screw normal. And diagnosis for whatever label they gave us.
    It doesn't change anything.
And doesn't limit what you can do.
And the best people I know are the "different"
    Ones.

you are very welcome. I have found that trying to help people I meet along the way is one way to connect with others on a comfortable level. I still need to stay in my comfort zone when interacting with other people but I am finding ways to expand that zone

Wow, is all I can say.. This has been one "revealing" day to put it mildly........ I always spent my life trying to be "normal".... After hearing this stuff and learning somethings I just looked up, I am not so sure I want to be "normal" any longer. So, @theddead you are correct and I say screw "normal" too !

Yeah I better give her poor thread back to her. I certainly didn't mean to hog it like I have...... I am just blown away about what I have just discovered and learned. I may join that other Asperger forum as well and check it out. Nothing wrong with hanging around my own kind I suppose. I will probably stay on this forum too as I would miss everyone here if I didn't. I will see what the other forum is like first though.
