Want to see a grown man scream louder then a 12 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert? Just toss one of these in a vehicle with him!

Nope, I won't scream, I jump out of the truck! True story, happened to me a couple of years ago. Damn bugger flew in, I quickly stopped & jumped out, my buddy had no idea what was going on & started cracking up, sitting in the truck still calm even after he knew what had flown in.

Flying insect stings have never bothered me. Oh sure, they sting a little but for some inexplicable reason they never leave a whelp and only mildly hurts for about 30 secs. Once a yellow jacket flew into the car window made a few flight patterns and settled on my neck and promptly stung me. I grabbed it and squashed the s#!t out of it. Not saying I'm a badass (not even close) or anything like that cause the sight of a black widow or brown recluse spider puts me into hyper flight mode.

Im with you ^^^ I grew up in an old farm house and shared my room with bees 5 months out of the year.

Been stung dozens of times, it hurts a bit but 10 minutes later I've forgot about it and moved on.
Spiders no problem either, although one has never bitten me.

My Kryptonite is (are) ...... BATS !! ...... Hate them. I've had to hit them with a tennis racquet and hold them down while they flex their jaws and scream at me ...... Yuk.

when new, has a faint clinical taste (like band aids smell).

That is it exactly ... I've never been able to put it in words before .... Now I know.

But for Mr Super Tastebuds here it last for about 15 minutes (Yes I have the tiniest amount of cotton for wick)

Recently, I started using a slightly larger drill bit to wrap micro coils on. I use a #50 (1.778mm) size bit with 28 ga wire and shoot for somewhere between .7-1Ω. It allows for a slightly larger wick that'll hold a little more juice and afford a few more toots before having to squonk. I don't over stuff it but I don't skimp either. I think the key to a good cotton wick is the density of it (akin to the density of a silica wick). I roll it pretty tightly (organic cotton) and it makes a nice dense wick and holds it's shape better than the other. As long as the wick isn't too big to thread through you're good. The sterile cotton seems to swell more once it's wet and has more potential to choke the flow through the coil. And that's my story on why tiny wicks are needed and I'm sticking to it. :D

I've settled on the 14g blunt for my wrapping tool, it provides just enough so I can either use cotton or feed a fair amount of silica through it.

Compared to what folks are paying for a few feet of silica/eko/etc.....me thinks not (to the statement and the question). Have you placed your order yet?:)

Well, let's see, a box of 60 pads is 12 dollars. I got enough for 1 wick + waste out of 1/36th of a pad (just measured and figured). You can split the thickness in 1/2, cut 1/4" strips, and cut those in half (crosscut). They are 2 1/4" wide. So, 9 strips per face/ply and 2 wicks per strip is 18. 18 x 2 plies = 36. So 36 wicks x 60 pads is 2160 wicks. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand . . . $12 divided by 2160 pcs = .0055555

So, yes, definitely. 1/2¢ per wick is a little steep.

ADDIT: oops, I forgot shipping, gotta be closer to 3/4¢ per wick.

Told my wife I had to run the store and did she want to come. She asked where, expecting hardware , tool, auto parts store. When I said Sophora she got a look of complete and total confusion, which quickly changed to concern for my mental well being.

The B&M version of the store does not stock it so I'll have to order online.

yeah, my bad. I went to the first post and pressed on the blue words . . . .. oops.

Only more expensive than the CVS when you figure in that the CVS is less expensive than the panty-clad-weevil cotton. But I can see how you might think you have a point there. :?:

When I first started vaping many moons ago I used those useless "cig type" devices where you had to change the battery every hour, drip it constantly and after a while they pack up and you don't get any throat hit either.
I like most love the idea of the cotton bud, easy to do, cheap and plentiful. The thing that I can't get around is the horrible taste. I tried to do the "shove the cotton under the coil trick" and still no joy except that the Reo was a vaping beast.

I thought on what I could use and remembered that I bought some Fluval 2Plus which are filter pads from a local aquarium store to fit in the cartridge mouth piece of the 501 ciggies. Well I put a tiny blob on under the very tight 5 wrap 28g kenthal A1 and there is no nasty taste at all.

If it's good enough for fish to be happy then..... Nirvana!

$28 for 162 pads. $12 for 60 pads.

adit: Besides, you know anything organic with a fancy name sold in a fancy New York cosmo beauty store has to be more expensive.

I tried bamboo. It was stiff and thick making it hard to work with in micro coils. It Has to be boiled several times to get the "stuff" out of it. Even after boiling, it was still stiff and it tasted like Bahiagrass. Let us know how Aunti' Lydia's fairs.
