I have been a supporter of V4L since 2009. I drive an hr to work every day so i have gotten into audio books as of late. been listening to Robert Jordan's Eye of the World series. its a pretty good series for people who like fantasy fiction. has anyone else read these books?

Have not read them but I'm a big fan of audio books.:2cool:

AngiBe here! Born in Ft.Bragg-Fayetteville, North Carolina (only lived there 6 months-Army Brat for life), grew up outside Chicago in Northwest Indiana (thats where I get my mostly brash, in your face demeanor) live currently just north of Indy (thats where I've learned to be a little nicer demeanor) and wished like hell I lived on a beach in Florida (where my demeanor would be bliss 365 days/year)!

Love Pilates, gambling and now...vaping.

I have never listened to an audio book. I guess I could while I was driving, but if I am at home I would rather read. :)

I love audiobooks. I think something about growing up with the internet gave me a short attention span so I like to be able to twist a coil up or something while I listen.

Amazing books and about my all time favorite series. Assuming you're talking about the Wheel of Time series. The first book is Eye of the World.

..but they have appendices at the end for a reason. I'm not sure how understandable they'll be past book two or three, especially if there happens to be a gap in you're listening time. The plot and perspective shifts enough that cheating and looking things up in the back is very useful, and almost required at some points.

I'm a lover of reading. And actual books, though I have broken down and started buying copies of well worn favorites for my Kindle in some cases.

And with minions, the only chance I'd get to do audio books would have to involve some type of headphones. And then my house would be destroyed, the kids would have incited the neighborhood brats to mutiny, and someone would be bleeding.

Well I have a toddler at home, so I have limited time when I could listen to one. After bedtime for her would be the only time I could, and that's usually spent with the hubby or catching up on TV shows...

Listening to them in the car is an alternative. Have a good day with the little one :)

I have not counted how long it has been since I came back to V4L after going off the wagon but I love my Zeus so much!!! The only time I used a different vendor was before I discovered V4L and then there was no need to use a different product because theirs are the best. I still have an occasional analog but that occasional analog is a huge cut back from the 2 packs a day I used to have. I am not beating myself over that and some of those analogs I have I don't even smoke the whole thing. I know it will be just a matter of time before I give up the analogs totally. I have even noticed that I can go longer between vaping than I did when I first started again. I retired recently and my days go so fast playing with my parrot and different hobbies and remodeling projects I have I now wonder how I ever found time to go to work.

I have audio books as well and they sure make walking on a treadmill a lot easier. I also like them when I am doing things with my hands I can just listen to a book and not waste time sitting and reading. They have the same best sellers and new releases as the online bookstores to download on an iPad.

Could someone recommend the best device for audio books? is the ipad better and why?

I wouldn't say the iPad is any better than any better than an iPod or really any other mp3 player. I use my computer. Most of the audiobooks come on CD's with chapters divided out into "songs" so you can easily keep your place regardless of what device you use.
