id let it dry overnight. I stick mine on top of the blowhole on my hepa filter. but usually if i rinse my clearos with super hot water and flick it a couple times it only takes like an hour or so to be dry enough to dry burn. Just make sure to rinse it again after you do it to get rid of the ash otherwise you will taint your juice with burnt taste.

So you're saying they need to blow it out their blowhole? :)

Use a paper towel on the wicks legs squeeze lightly,
best to do it while the tank is off with just the base and head on your device.
It should dry burn pretty quickly after a wash or your pv device is very low powered..

After dry burning many times and it pulses as one solid coil,
wash it again to remove ash residues and dry burn until it pulses as one solid coil
put tank back on
put on stem cap loosely let the vivi screw top move the stem cap into the wicks
fill with juice, prime it by vaping without any power-- vape...

haha @mike sheda

I have never had an issue dry burning immediately after running under hot water, giving a quick blow at the blow hole (that was for you mike) and dabbing with a paper towel. I have had some pretty gummed up coils before where I did get glowing red until the 15th round of that dry burn.

So no matter what your coils never "light up"?

make sure you pinch the wicks dry with vapor towel. If you are using a non adjustable voltage device make sure your battery is fully charged before doing this (if you can put it in non regulated mode this will be even better) you will see vapor if there is ANY water left in the wicks. Keep doing it the wicks will eventually dry out and the coil will glow red IF your battery is fully charged. If you have a VV or VW bump it up a little till you see it glow and start the pulsing!! Hope this helps!

Just keep dry burning. I know there are many warnings about popping the coils when dry burning. However, I've never had that happen. BUT, I do let it cool once in a while dry burning, not because of the fear of popping the coil, but to let the metal base cool. Also, I don't want to scorch the rubber grommet. It will leave a nasty taste.

So I guess you're not dry burning long enough. If there is still vapour, the coils will not glow, or glow weakly.

My Protank coils will do something similar until all the gunk is burned off of them. Short pulses with some cooling time between pulses. Eventually, the coil will burn off the gunk and you'll see them start to glow. When they're all glowing evenly and brightly, you should be good to go.

Short pulses, and when you can count the wraps in the coil but, it won't glow, blow it off, or rinse it again if blowing on it doesn't remove the last of the carbon.

As for popping a coil while dry burning, I did it but, that was intentional. The head was 6 weeks old, so had lived a long life anyway, I set out to pop it, just to see what it took. It took two back to back 15 (My PV has a 16 second auto cut off so, did 15.) second burns to make it pop so, the chances of popping it accidentally are slim unless it is faulty or already very weak.

If the coil is heavily gunked up, 6 may not be enough.

Ensure your battery is fully charged, and try some more.

Since you were getting steam when the wick was still damp, the coil appears to be intact, so it's just a question of putting power to it enough times to burn off the crud.

If it's a high Ω coil, it can take longer unless you have a VV device and can increase the voltage.

I have been dry burning my Vivi Nova watching the effect on the coil.
Vapor emits from the coil every time I apply voltage but the coil does
not glow red as seen on videos on the subject.
The wick is not gummed up and I can see the individual coil wraps.
Can someone please explain the possible problem?

The wick had been washed and dried.

I dry burned six times.

Hi Boeriemore,

Never had your particular problem, but it sounds like not enough current is reaching the coil.
The Vision Vivi Nova is easy to take apart and rebuild or maybe take apart to see what is going on.

Cleaning and dry burning:
Soak in Alcohol or Rinse under Hot water
Dry with Paper Towel
Expose coil(Remove any cover/pipe)
Attach to a partially discharged Battery
Pulse 3-5 seconds, Repeat until Coil starts to Glow
Repeat until Coil will glow Orange and you can see individual wraps.
Let cool a few seconds and rinse
Dry and reuse

You must keep pulsing without interruption to raise the coils temperature until it can reach proper heat to glow. Any delay will slow the process.
If the battery is to low on charge it may not be able to efficiently power the coil. i.e. depleted battery and a High ohm coil.
