Well now I finally have all this stuff (except blanks):p

How do I maintain it, clean it, steep it etc?

1. How do I keep batteries clean and performing well.
2. How do I clean cartomizers and how many times do you refill before you just throw it away?
3. How do I steep juices and why?
4. Where do I need to store my juices?
5. How much juice do you usually go through in a week?
6. Any other tips or advice?

Thanks to everyone here, you all have been so very helpful with juice recomendations especially RB for the menthol advice. I am grateful to all of you for helping me stay off analogs for 3 weeks now.

WOW Evie lots of questions in a single thread. But that's OK. I will say it would help to know what you are vaping with(PV) as that will influence your upcoming answers from the group.

I don't think they realized you were posting in the Bloog forum.

1. I'm not fanatic about cleaning the batteries because I don't get juice on them. I make sure the carto is clean before putting on (a refilled)
2. I just use a bit of tissue to clean any excess on the carto
3. Will defer to others about steeping. I never have and maybe should have.
4. The bottles say to store in a dark/cool place. So mine is in one of my desk cabinets
5. Since I use both prefilled and refilled, I don't go thru juice as fast as some folks. A 30ml will last me a month.
6. um... buy low, sell high

First off welcome to the Bloog family. I'm glad you finally got everything. I'm going to start out with some of my personal experiences. I'm sure some of the others will jump in here soon.

Well now I finally have all this stuff (except blanks):p

How do I maintain it, clean it, steep it etc?

1. How do I keep batteries clean and performing well.
1 of the main things is not to use them once they signal you (flashing LED on end) that they are ready to be charged. Charge them til the charger says they are done and take them off. Also, occasionally take a tissue or napkin and gently wipe the end off and the threads, making sure they are clean and dry.

2. How do I clean cartomizers and how many times do you refill before you just throw it away?
There are a few ways to clean them. I feel the easiest is with the rubber grip from an ink pen and a turkey baster or ear wax bulb. Squirting water thru them a couple of times then bake them in the oven on about 175 degrees for about an hour. ready to refill the next day. (gardner or noob or zero can expand on this)
As for longevity, I have some I have been using for a couple of weeks. When they taste "burnt' after cleaning and with fresh juice I toss them.

3. How do I steep juices and why?
I will defer to frick or someone else on steeping.

5. How much juice do you usually go through in a week?
I go thru 2 to 3 cartos a day while I'm trying to find my perfect flavor, so it's hard to give a weekly usage because I'm dripping out of 3 or 4 different bottles.

6. Any other tips or advice?
Keep an eye out, it won't be long before everybody comes in here to help you out. Got a lot of good people in here that want to help you grow and enjoy your vaping experience.

Have fun and keep on Blooging...

How do I maintain it, clean it, steep it etc?

1. How do I keep batteries clean and performing well.
First and foremost, always keep the cartomizer dry after a refill. If you think you may have overfilled, blow into the mouthpiece end lightly, and then wipe dry. I made the mistake of failing to do this, and although my battery still functions, it doesn't have the life it had say a month ago.

2. How do I clean cartomizers and how many times do you refill before you just throw it away?
I have yet to clean out a cartomizer. If you have a juice you don't like much, you can reverse spin the juice out. There is one I've been refilling, I've filled it about 6 times and it's still working fine. I'll let someone else elaborate more on that one.

3. How do I steep juices and why?
Steeping is a relatively simple concept. It's most commonly related to drinking tea. You let it sit for a while, as to achieve more flavor. I'm not entirely sure why steeping juices helps, but it definitely does. All I do, is when I receive the juice, let it sit for a while with the lid off. This allows the flavor to mix well. I also shake the juice a bunch before I put it in the carts, not sure if this really helps, but I feel it does.

4. Where do I need to store my juices?
I keep my juices in the bag they came in. Ziplock bags are fine, or even just in a box somewhere, where they won't get sunlight.

5. How much juice do you usually go through in a week?
I'm not completely off analogs yet, and I am experimenting with many juices, so I would say thus far, maybe about 5 ml - 7 ml in a weeks time. When I do vape, I chain vape.

6. Any other tips or advice?
Everyone on this forum is willing to help in anyway they can, and most questions have answers, so feel free to ask away:p

Was it something I said?
On flushing, I've not bothered on similar enough juices. Not too much flavor carries over, and sometimes the bit that does is a happy little accident (hey, that's what my mom always called me). When I do flush, I throw the cartos in a shallow pot of boiling water, along with the condoms. after a bit of a boil, I drop to a simmer, or off even, and use tongs to set them up on end rubber tip up, I have the water level so it is just below the tops of the cartos. I use a syringe body no needle (mine's a luer lock tip) and flush water through each one until I'm clumsy and knock it over, usually 1-7 times. I change water and repeat. Spin the water out, and bake at like 200*F for, uhhh some amount of time. This leaves virtually flavorless cartos.

On steeping, if I like the new juice, steeping is just what happens before I finish the bottle. If I hope it will improve I leave the lid off for a day or three, then recap and let sit until I'm happy with it, give up on it, or vape it anyway. There are conflicting reports that heat, as in throwing the sealed bottles in hot water helps while some say it ruins juice.

On storage, I run a juice storage facility. Included in the reasonable fee is periodic testing to insure your juices maintain flavor.

I'm going through about 3ml of 16-18 mg per day right now. 2ml of 24 was plenty, but I'm out of 24's atm.

Dee - that's the thing I have nightmares about right now. I'm at almost 2 weeks in and I'd cry if I had to even think of an analog now.

Thanks to the wise for all the answers! I love information. It's yummy.

My most important tip is to keep a back up supply handy at all times. This includes extra batteries, chargers, juice, and cartos. I learned from painful experience that running out of anything is not fun. And sometimes the item we desperately need is out of stock.

1. How do I keep batteries clean and performing well. Wipe threads and airholes occassionally with rubbing Alcohol and tissue.
2. How do I clean cartomizers and how many times do you refill before you just throw it away? I soak them overnight in pure grain alcohol and then boil them for about 5 minutes. I then place them in a 150 degree oven for about 20 minutes to get them drying out. Blow them out a few times (push air through mouthpiece by blowing hard) and then leave them set to dry out completely. I throw them away when they just don't hit well anymore.
3. How do I steep juices and why? Steep juices by letting them sit for 2 weeks to a month. Some flavors need to sit for a while before they reach their full potential.

Thanks for the shout out but I have never cleaned my carts. I tend to refill with complementary flavors -- Coffee/Chocolate , Apple / Caramel, RY4 / RY4 :)

Menthol will always need to be flushed, unless of course you are refilling with another menthol or mint flavor. Menthol really sticks with the cartos.
