BigJim,

First off props on your videos. I watched many of them on youtube over the past week.

Just thought I would send you a little inspiring information for a change about the first part of this video regarding children.

My sons school still has corporal punishment. I did have to sign a release form but I was very surprised when they send this home ever year at the beginning of school. OF COURSE i sign it. He is 8 now and in the 3rd grade. Last year I got a bit upset and had to call the school though. They get colored stars for being good, misbehaving, etc. A red star means he was bad that day in one way or another. 3 red stars and you get a paddling out in the hallway (with a witness, same as when I was in school).

Well, he got 3 red stars one week for excessive talking. He came home and told me and I asked him if he got his paddling. To my surprise he said no. I was furious and called his teacher immediately and asked her why not. She said that they are only in the 2nd grade and she gives them a little more leighway. I absolutely went off. You can't threaten a child with punishment and then not follow through. They learn that it is just that, a hollow threat and nothing is going to happen. So after talking to her about this for a while, the next time he got his stars he got his paddling. Guess what. He has stopped talking during class.

Anyways, I prolly made that longer than it should have been but regardless the point is that some schools still do have corporal punishment in place or whatever you call it.

If he does something wrong at home, he is punished. Normally a grounding now a days because he don't do to much worthy of a spanking. Parent's need to get more involved and make sure that their child's school is following through with whatever punishment system they have in place.
