Just found out my friend's mom has a loaner Ego to try out, she is to pay 200 bucks for it and 35 bucks for the juice if she likes it. That is steep. She got it from someone in her town here in Saskatchewan. I am trying to find out exactly what she has for hardware, who this person is that is trying to take advantage of her, if that included any extra batts, chargers, atties etc..but OMG 200 bucks? thank god for ECF and happy Jack. I am PO'd that someone would do that. Ecigs is supposed to save us money not burn holes in our pockets! Now I know nothing about Egos but I told her to take that loaner back and I will set her up. So now I need to find out what to set her up with. I like my 510 but battery life sucks ..... I would like to see if I can get her set up with a good system here, as she has already tried the ego. Somthing simple, somthing easy, and somthing she will love.

Opinions would be great!

Hey yeah that's steep! I loaned out my eGo usb passthrough to a buddy for free. He liked it so I helped him order one from Heavengifts. With an LR 510 atty the total came out to under $30. I was already making an order from HG so he piggy backed on my shipment. I drip so thats what I recommend even though I've heard good things about the tank... good luck.

The eGo is just a fat 510 battery with a hollow cone that covers the 510 atty so it doesn't look dumb.

If she's not worried about battery life and wants something that looks like a cig, she may as well go with the 510. If she wants the extended battery life and doesn't care what it looks like, she should go with the eGo.

Edit to add: Hell, if she was going to blow 200 bucks anyways... if she wants something similar to a cigarette, she might want to check out the Bloog kit.

who this person is that is trying to take advantage of her,

Dime a dozen on Craigslist. Bit better than when they were selling the $9.00 kits for $100 that wouldn't last a day, at very least the eGO works, if it is one...

That is the danger of HC's attack on this product, it pushes into markets like that and give us all a shady reputation.

Only positive here is that it does expose people to the product. Sure you paid too much and or got an inferior product, but at very least it introduced the person to vaping. In this case looks like you caught it in time Danesnpits, so hopefully no money is lost.

Ego-T with standard or LR atty. This is what i recommend usually... 510 is finicky, 510-T might be better, but it is too new but reviews seems to be good. 510 battery life sucks though. It's sad to meet people who "had the one that looks like real sig but it sucked" in the smoking cuz some scam made 50 bucks on 5 dollar disposable cigarette. At lease she got an ego

I also agree that the Bloog is a great kit however it your 510 battery life really sucked that bad... i'm not sure how heavy your friend vapes... I never found the 510 batts to be too awful.

I vape about 2 full cartos a day and two MINI batteries will last me the day. One lasts 2-3 hours, then i'll pop the charged one out of the pcc and start charging the dead one. Once the next one dies, the spare is already charged. The case will charge a battery several times. So with 2 mini batts, the mini pcc and a couple cartos i'm pretty much good for the day.

I have the ego-T but I find a lot of the flavour is lost... but to each their own.

That's my 2 cents :)

before today id of said ego with a dripping atty but today my bloog came in and now id say bloog , ego with dripping att is great but bloog is just as good but with the added simplicity and a system that works allowing for 30 drips rather that 2-3 in a carto u can chain vape without burning
either one is a solid choice though and a perfect starting point , i havent tried the ego-t but have heard enough bad about it to turn me off

Where's your friend from Danesnpits?

I'm still a noob when it comes to hardware (ego-T reg and LR atties and some 510-T atties), but battery life is great with an ego batt. I'd definitely recommend that of course.

They are an hour west of Saskatoon, SK close to the Alberta border heading towards Calgary.

My fav set up is ego with a LR ego atty and a standard cartridge. Ive tried 510, LR 510, and an ego-T. Tons of vapor, pretty consistent, rarely do I get the wicking problems I got with the 510, perfect draw and lots of flavor when comapred to the ego-T. I do like tanks for tobacco flavors tho... Dunno why. Seems drier? Bah.

Anyways, I hate being a slave to the charger, so I can't imagine a 510 battery or the Bloog. I might pick up a Bloog just to diversify, but Im really happy with my set up as is. I could care less if it looks like Im smoking a pipe the way I hold it... Haha.

Well that's the power of the internet versus offline marketing for ya :) I don't think that this is all that terrible, as vaping is ridicuously cheap compared to smoking, so the person is being done a favor even at these inflated prices. If they end up going with vaping, then hopefully they will be resourceful enough to do some online research and discover that it's an even better deal. Even at $30 for a 30 ml bottle of juice though, this will replace several cartons of cigarettes and save the person a ton of money in addition to being a healthier alternative.

I think that starting out, ease of use is going to be important, as a lot of people won't want to fool around too much. You can't beat the ego-t as far as this goes, and as far as other devices providing more flavor, I find it produces plenty and especially if it's the first one you use, as you won't really know the difference anyway.

What we need to realize here is that a lot of this is different strokes for different folks, for instance some people like a lot of vapor, some people find the intensity of flavors more important, some people prefer something that looks and feels like an analog, some prefer using something that they can just fill up and go all day with, and so on. In the end though pretty much anything is going to do the job in terms of delivering the nic, and the rest is just secondary really.

That really doesn't sound that horrible to me, if whoever she got it from is purchasing off of a canadian vendor and reselling, that's like 100% markup (heck in my shop our baseline is cost * 3).

If people are willing to put the work into research they can save a ton of course, but if not there's nothing terrible in making a buck off of somebody (to most smokers 100 bucks is nothing), heck had I had a trial and knew this would have gotten me off em I would have shelled out 500 easy without thinking too hard about it.

This person is however fortunate to be acquainted with you so you can save em some money =)

You know.. I STILL get some people telling me these things seem way too expensive and they will "just stick with smoking"

I guess they don't bother to add up all the packs in a month... I dunno..

Silly excuse compared to what people really do spend on smokes.. but whatever.

Well the health issues don't even need to be part of it. I haven't even quit but let's look at what I'm saving from just cutting down. This is over 2 years and the reason why I picked that is that the batts I got with my kit will last at least that long I figure:

Vaping:
Starter Kit $85
Attys : $330
Juice: $325
Subtotal: $740
Tax: $96.20
Shipping: Free
Grand Total: $836.20

So I've cut down a whole pack a day right off the bat, it's costing me $97 a carton so that works out to $12.12 a pack. So that's 365 days x 2 = 730 days, so the total saved is $8,847.60

So that's a savings of over $4000 a year and once again I haven't even quit. Even a ...... could see this is a lot cheaper :D

I got nailed back in '08 for a smoke51 kit and carto's and immediately dropped 2 pks out of my 3 ppd habbit. Sure, I later found ECF and learned quite a bit about others (what little there were) available, but I never regretted that first purchase for my introduction to e-cigs, and the immediate savings I saw compared to where I was at the time.

I considered it a favorable initiation & moved on.
