I have a friend who smokes (and he actually has an c-cig, too) and when I told me I quit, he looked at me like I was an idiot (as I had my M402 in my hand) and said "you didn't quit, you just switched to a different kind of cigareette."

I wasn't sure how to respond other than tell him that I was inhaling flavored water vapor and there wasn't anything remotely close to "smoke" in the process. He didn't buy it...

Ya know... I really find judgmental people distasteful.

YOU know the facts and the truth... Let's assume the forum members know the facts and the truth....Then it's all good.

Be at peace with yourself.

I don't think there is any point, trying to explain anything to people, who have their own point of view. All I know is that I smoked for well over 48 years at 1 1/2 packs a day and sometimes more and since July 2 I haven't smoked a single one, still have well over a carton in my drawer. So for me I am making progress one step at a time, using the 24mg nicotine right now and in a couple of months may switch to a lesser grade. But whatever you call it I'm doing good by my standards and no one else matters right now

People will believe what they want to. Actually, switching to a PV is just another way to satisfy the nicotine habit, so it could be said that "smoke" never stopped coming from our faces, but we know the difference.

Education is the key. Too bad television can't carry E-cig commercials. The public would get an education overnight.

I have friends tell me I should just smoke cigarettes because e-cigs are too much of a hassle. I also have friends that make comments to me that I never put my PV down. Now when I'm hanging out with my friends that is usually when I would smoke the most. I really wish people would just keep comments to themselves and talk about me behind my back like normal people. :D

Well, either way, I know that my wife wanted me to quit, and I wanted to not displease her. Honestly, I wanted to WANT to quit... This whole e-cig thing has allowed me to keep my wants and it helped get what my wife needed from me. Now I know it doesn't really matter what others think in terms of their judgment (in the long run) but I can't help but be a bit annoyed at it.

Your friend has a PV but still smokes tobacco cigarettes. And he tells you that vaping is actually smoking. That way he gets to tell himself "Dakota uses that thing and I use tobacco -- it's the same thing. We're both still smoking." It makes him feel better about himself and his failure to quit.

So, next time he says it, reply "There's no fire, smoke, tar, carbon monoxide, arsenic, formaldehyde, benzene, etc. But, if it makes you feel better about the fact that you are still inhaling all of those, fine. We'll say I'm still smoking."
