Well. That sucks. Just got my new 3.5 dual coil tank and..............

fried it on the first hit.:facepalm::facepalm:

If you're getting ready to get a tank please pay close attention to Snow's filling video. I got the tank all filled up and made sure to take a couple of "dry" hits to bring juice up into the cart. Apparently I didn't do that enough. Some juice went from the tank to the cart but I guess it didn't saturate it. Hopefully my experience will help prevent this from happening to others.

Oh well. Hope the replacement carts come out soon!

Scootness, after you filled the tank did you top off the cartomizer with 10 or so droplets, then prime it by covering the base and giving it a dry hit?

This does suck....and I am so sorry to hear about this given the lack of replacement cartos. That being said, it may not be your fault. On occasion I have seen Cartos get the holes punched on the wrong end, so instead of being just above the bottom cap on the flanged side of the Carto, they have been punched on the top.

For experienced tank users, this is an easy thing to spot, for the novice not so much. If you happen to have one of these Cartos, the bottom filler never gets primed because the hole are punched in error on top.

I actually had one of these when I received my 2 tanks, this occurred on the 6ml metal capped tank. In the world of tanks this would be an epic fail.

I did contact V4L immediately and they sounded the fire alarm to check their stock. Perhaps some of these went out before they could catch them. So check your cartos, if they look like this.....it's not your fault. To make this usable I simply punched holes where they should be and the carto is currently working fine. But I spotted mine before ever filling it so the polyfill was undamaged.

If you have a 510 device, pre-punched replacement dual cartos can be found easily at a number of other vendors.

Thanks for the tip SD but the holes on my tank were at the bottom. I did prime it and take dry hits, but didn't work in my case as well. Kezy said maybe to 'open' up the holes a bit when it's filled? Seemed like air bubbles were blocking the holes, or it seemed to be, cus after she did that the tank worked fine....

I read what Keyzy said and it left me a little confused...the feeder holes on tanks are extremely small so I'm not sure how you block them both off. Then I thought maybe she meant you poke the holes and simply mistakenly noted using an unbent clip. Instead she meant using a straightened out paperclip, but I have all sort of paperclips and the diameters on them are too large to stick into the feeder holes. So perhaps she can chime in and clarify that.

Now Chim had a flooding issue earlier so I advised her to take a straightened out paper clip and ream it through the entire length of the air wick tube to clear it out of juice...which worked. Perhaps that was what Keyzy was referring too....idk

Getting used to the tanks is a process. I have lost plenty of juice in my efforts to learn:) Hopefully it won't be long before the blank, punched carts are available. Snow...I have to say Thank You as your videos and the response to Chim on using a paperclip to clear the tube have helped my issues. Pay close attention when he tells us to hold the cart cap tight when trying to refill (oh yeah...from experience) One thing I will say is once you learn this system for lack of a better word it rocks!! I got a great idea from a friend on another forum... for people like me that like a variety of flavors... store the filled tanks you're not using in empty prescription bottles...then if there is a leak issue - easy to clean up!

Yep Steve, I sure did top it off per your instruction with 10 drops but I think I just didn't do the dry hit quite enough. Just a couple of quick ones. Next time I'll be sure to really pull it through there to the point of spraying juice in my mouth so I know that puppy is good and saturated!

Oh well. I need to order another manual stealth anyway so I'll just have to get another tank! This is a process for all of us so hopefully my mistake will save someone else a couple bucks. :)

P.S. - Even though it was partially burned (doesn't taste fully burned, if that makes any sense and there was a complete lack of flavor from the juice) I continued messing around with it and let me tell you - that higher nic hit is no joke! I can't remember the last time I had a nic buzz before today!

UPDATE!

I just discovered something very odd that gives me a little hope here. I just found out that I have two faulty bottles of juice. I filled the tank with Spearmint (a bottle I just recently opened) and I definitely did get that unmistakable burned taste on the first hit earlier. But with further experimentation here it seems that that taste has subsided for the most part. There might be a slight hint of it left, but what was throwing me off more than anything was the lack of any kind of spearmint taste and I think that accented the burned taste. After now continuing to vape on the tank (whoo! Now I'm really buzzing!) the burn seems to have been pretty well flushed out if that's possible.

I've been using the same set of carts for quite a while now for spearmint and I noticed that they weren't tasting quite right anymore (filled a few previously used ones with the aforementioned newly opened bottle) so I ordered some new carts and another bottle of spearmint for the tank. After giving up on the tank earlier, believing it burned, I decided to fill one of my new blanks that came today to get that fresh, beautiful spearmint taste that I've been missing for a while. I made damn sure not to burn the cart after the experience from earlier, getting in about 30 drops and Taryn spinning 3 seperate times for good measure. And what do you know....the taste was almost identical to the tank. No trace of burn this time, but the complete lack of any flavor at all.

To experiment further I filled a second blank with the new bottle of spearmint that came today, rather than the old. Same result. Even had the GF compare both carts to the tank to ensure I'm not bat-..... crazy and she agreed. The taste is damn near identical.

By some odd chance I think I got two different bottles of almost completely unflavored nic juice. Suh-weet!

Step 1: Notify Wader via PM to check stock of Spearmint for other duds.
Step 2: Continue drinking beer.
Step 3: Figure out how to clean this tank so I can fill this puppy with some good ol' Peacemaker and see what happens. :)

Thanks guys! Jingles, you will love it my friend. It is phenominal.

My conclusion is that I think I may have started to burn the cart slightly, which created a burnt taste that lingered for a bit. That, coupled with the lack of flavor from faulty juice and perhaps the tank roasting it, resulted in my believing the cart was burnt.

What I did on the second time around was to give a couple of much harder draws on the 'dry hit' step. Not sure why, but the tank leaked slightly at the bottom so I called it good and that seemed to do the trick. No burn this time! Maybe that is an indicator of when the cart is filled. Something to ponder...

Wow, that was quite a read! A "perfect storm".

My tank hasn't arrived yet, but I have a couple questions:
Do they bubble out the holes as juice flows into the carto?
Do y'all think anything is gained by priming the carto with a syringe as one might fill a normal carto in lieu of drops? It would sure avoid getting juice down the center tube to be cleared as Chimchim did with a paperclip.
