hey everyone,
I have composed a letter to oprah. Haven't sent it yet and thought I'd get chewed out or told to change stuff first. Here it is.
I started smoking cigarettes in 2000. Since then, I have averaged a pack a day. I live in Michigan, and smoking is a habit that my health and finances can no longer afford. I have tried quitting on several occasions, using various methods, ie. cold turkey, accountability, and the gum. These methods are meant to encourage you to reduce the intake of nicotine, to the ultimate end of quitting. In my case, the reality was a glove box with a secret stash of smokes.
I'm writing to you today, Oprah, because today is Jan. 3rd and I haven't had a cigarette since Dec. 18th. No, I didn't go cold turkey, nor did I use any government approved method. After careful research, I found the "electric cig" or "pv" (personal vaporizer) and.vapor4life.com..Along with that, I found.e-cigarette-forum.com.and many who share my story. Both pv's and cigarettes have nicotine and propylene glycol; however, pv's don't burn, nor do they contain the thousands of other chemicals that cigarettes have. Unfortunately, the FDA doesn't receive a cut of the taxes taken from the sale of pv's like they do from traditional (or analog) cigarettes, and is trying to ban them. States like NJ have jumped on the bandwagon even though nicotine and propylene glycol are not on the NIOSH carcinogen list. Can you tell me what the FDA won't?
