A little advice for outdoorsey folks....

If you have a custom graphics chuck, it does not mix with deep woods off. Any off for that matter. I had some residue on my hand,my chuck did not even take a direct hit but it got all sticky/gluey feeling. I did wipe it off with water...then the next morning tried a damp cloth with a tad of windex. It's okay but the sheen is gone on part of my graphics and the top end piece. Thankfully it still looks okay but something in off doesn't sit well with the final coating.

Jeff, got any recommendations for me? I am gonna need to order a hiking chuck that can stand up to massive amounts of deet!

Any that have clear coated graphics go through a shorter final cook time on the clear. This cures it about 90%... any more and the graohics start to burn. Any withiut graphics get the full cook time and they will stand up to the chemical abuse better.

PS: IT WAS SO GREAT TO GO TRUDGING UP HILLS AND BRUSH, EVEN IN THE HEAT, WITHOUT THINKING YOU ARE GOING TO COLLAPSE A LUNG OR SOMETHING! I owe it all to my Chucks!!!!

Im an avid camper...in Louisiana...the SKEETER capital of the friggin world, so I often bathe in OFF type repellents....glad I saw this thread before I got the chuck!!!!

Well, your gonna need more than one anyhoo! LOL! I like mine so much that I have been pondering....maybe a nekkid one and I'll take it in somewhere and have it engraved with something cheesy. Hmmm, perfect anniversary gift from my hubs, I can put our names and wedding date on it down the road!

In the meantime, I'll leave the gunsmoke chuck behind and take my illusion painted one.

Sadly I don't get to go out and provide food for the mass insect population as much as I would like to. I was amazed though, didn't find any ticks this time, course give the dogs a couple more days, one has got to surface sometime.
