I can relate. My DW keeps telling me how happy she is that I started back on vaping, but she just won't do it, and she has been hacking longer than I was, and told MANY times by her doctor she really Needs to quit. She has taken no smoking classes 7 or 8 times the last year. She does not like charging batteries, filling tanks or carto's, she just wants to pick it up and vape. I bought her a 510X kit (5 batteries and clero's) and told her i would charge and fill them for her, well they were too heavy. So I bought a bunch of different cig size throwaways to find one she might like, she said she liked one flavor, so I ordered a bunch of them, which she does not use. Problem was when anyone was around that smoked she would keep bumming from them, to the point of them running out of cigs and getting upset. Now she is back to buying and smoking, not vaping at all, but I just let her be, and hope by her seeing my success, one day "She Will Want To Vape". Until then I just Keep On vaping.

I have the SAME issue with my Madre. Only she supports the fact I changed to vaping. I have had conversations with her and even set her up with one of mine to try. I saw how it helped 3 other people in my life that were WAY worse smokers than I quit. I was hoping for the best because as you put it she has the hacking and coughing so I know it's only a matter of time. And she is my rock, my world. I want her as long as possible you know?? But it seems like she really isn't interested in really trying. I'll see her on it a few times here and there but still buy cigs and smoke. I think I need to just come to see it is what it is. And you or I can't say we didn't try. I am not going to give up just yet but I do feel your frustration for sure. And I understand how it hurts too. I'm sorry...

Some people are just stubborn. And afraid to quit smoking.

Smoking not only has a strong physical impact, it has a very deep psychological impact working, too. A cigarette is very much like an adult pacifier. It gives comfort during times of stress. It always satisfies the cravings which it was responsible for creating in the first place. To be without a cigarette would be like losing his best friend.

Preeeeeee-cisely.

Quitting smoking involves a death in "the family."

I think that's one of the reasons vaping works so well -- it's a fun, tasty, wondrous little new distraction from the grief of losing that "Best friend."

I am very new to vaping, only off analogs a few days now. If my son had pressured me to quit I would have likely smoked more to spite him, I'm an @__ like that. He asked me to stop and left it at that, every time I would light up he would leave the room (I love spending time with him so that was hurtful), he would just give me a look and leave. Over 30 years smoking non-filtered cigs was a hard thing to quit, but once I set my mind to it I was done.

My suggestion... ease up on him. He is lucky to have you there already vaping to help him when he is ready. Grab a simple cheap setup and put a little juice in it. Hand it to him and tell him to try it when he is ready, if he decides to quit he will ask questions, if not there is really nothing you can do except know you did all you could.

Good luck.

Be kind but keep up the little nudges. My mom intro'd me to ecigs. She cut articals from the news paper and magazines and sent them to me. I Poo-Poo'd it. for 2 yrs, But one day I started listening. googled ecig and EFC came up. rest is history. 13month happy vaper.

I guess that it took time for the idea to sink in for me. Don't give up, yet don't push.
