So yeah. just picked up my first e-cig the other day from a company called Wetflame. I got their hydro model which is a two part system and I went with that since, as my first e-cig, I wanted something that was no-fuss, no-muss. Simple and easy.

So far I like it ok, vape production is good, battery has lasted me two days before I had to recharge it and the flavor is...tobacco-y. (I got the tobacco flavor to start so this is good.)

My only complaint, and this is nothing to do with the brand is that it is clearly, in my mind, not like smoking a cigarette. Cigarettes have a defined smoking time determined by how long your cig is and how fast/slow you smoke it. This thing I can smoke all day, indoors and outside, in public or private, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health...you get the idea. Thing is, I'm not sure if the "smoke all day" is the best way to go. I imagine that using this method means I'm smoking a lot more than before with reg cigs?

So how do you all approach smoking with an e-cig? Do you smoke all day or still try to have smoking "times"?

generally you will vape twice as much as you smoked, the nicotine from regular cigarettes absorbs much faster due to the smoke molecules being much smaller than that of vapor. Just be sure to drink plenty of water because vapeing will dehydrate you more than smoking did, this is because PG/VG absorbs moisture, some of the vapor you blow out is actually water from your body not just from the e-liquid. Have no fear though, just drink water and if you feel a headache coming on or something just lay off the vape for an hour and it will pass...then you will know your limit on how much to vape lol, thats how it happened to me anyway.

I do vape on a much more frequent basis than I smoked, although usually I vape maybe 2 or 3 drags, set it down, pick it up a few minutes later..repeat. (Very similar to what I did with cigarettes, except that they had proceeded to burn down to the filter and needed to be replaced.) And I spend a lot more time with "vaping" in general... the forums, the fiddling, the changing flavors... omg the flavorrrrrrrrrrrrss...

it is somewhat balanced out by the "i do not have to go out to the store at 1 am because I forgot to get a pack during reasonable hours" moments, or the time spent searching for a pack of matches because yet another lighter died... etc etc.... so that's nice.

Wait...train of thought derailed. Oh...

Although I spend more time vaping (in that there is no burn out timer saying "you're done") -- the simple fact that I am not inhaling all the nasties that came with the nicotine in a cigarette makes that okay with me. It also helps that I am spending less time with certain other habits... like mindlessly eating (can't eat, will ruin vape flavor!)... or chewing on the sleeves of my shirts (so many shirts ruined)...

I guess on my mental-balance-sheet, the pros outweight the cons.
And I am still relatively new (almost to week 3 now)... so I figure much like a kid with a new toy, at some point I'm going to get more used to it and calm down a little. (MAYBE)

Personally i vape all day. I'm not a good example though because i use 4.5mg e liquid. But that isn't advisable !. How much nicotine is in "your" e-liquid ? Most people would advise you too keep your nicotine level low like 18mg or something if you want to vape all day. On the flip side you could just have your e cig brake like you did with ordinary cigarettes but keep the nicotine level high, and most would recommend 36mg e liquid.

Hi and welcome! I do vape more than I smoked, part of it I think is that I'm at a nic level lower than the cigarettes I smoked. I smoked 1.5 PAD of Marlboro menthols for 40 years and vape roughly 12mgs. It also depends on what I'm doing. Right now, sitting in front of my computer with a cup of coffee, I'm chain-vaping; but yesterday, I went through probably one of the worst experiences of my life and I only took one or two long drags off my PV while it was going on. It never even crossed my mind to have a cigarette, which in retrospect is quite amazing.

Congratulations! Getting off cigarettes is the best thing you can do for yourself and your loved ones.

Vaping works for me. I ended a 35-year pack and half a day habit last April.

Vaping is different from smoking. It provides the nicotine and mimics the action of smoking, but that's about it. The tobacco flavors may simulate a couple of the flavor tones of smoking, but they doesn't taste much like smoking a cigarette: burning tobacco, flavorings, fillers and paper.

I was never that much of a candy eater so flavored e-liquids are not my thing. I just use unflavored. The majority of vapers drift away from the tobacco flavors to use the candy flavors.

I spend about the same amount of time vaping as I used spend smoking although my vaping session times vary a lot. Where I used to spend about four minutes on a cigarette and sometimes eight minutes smoking two, my vaping times can be anywhere from a minute to a leisurely fifteen minutes. Depending on what I'm doing at the time I may go over a few hours without vaping or might take a hit every couple of minutes. I vaped a lot more during the first few weeks without tobacco than I do now.

The longer you are vaping the more you will notice the differences between smoking and vaping.

Yeah, that's the thing about e-cigs. When it comes to simply meeting a nicotine craving, 2-3 puffs on an ecig can satisfy those cravings.

Some people vape a lot, and significantly up their tolerance to nicotine as a result.

So yeah. just picked up my first e-cig the other day from a company called Wetflame. I got their hydro model which is a two part system and I went with that since, as my first e-cig, I wanted something that was no-fuss, no-muss. Simple and easy.

Thanks for all the great reponses, nice to know my approach is similar to several others here.

I went with the 18mg fluid. That was comparable to a "full flavor" cig. I had been smoking lights for awhile there at the end which is comparable to 11mg? Or that is what I have read. So far so good. Can't say there isn't a kind of desire to just have a cigarette, but my niece has put her foot down and so I promised I would try this for at least a month. Bratty little jerk, but I do love her so...

I went through a phase where I felt like I was constantly vaping so I decided to limit myself. It made me cranky and I wanted a cigarette so I went back to vaping and not worrying about how often I put it down. It's been about two months and I can go quite awhile without even thinking about it. I wasn't feeling so great on Saturday and didn't even have a craving most of the day. I love the fact that I can do chores without stopping for a smoke break every 45 minutes.
