Ok, so i'm pretty new to vaping, and pretty new to ECF as well. So why do you want to bother reading my post? Well, before i bought a PV, before I posted on this site, i spent a LOT of time reading the forums, did a LOT of research on the various products available on the market, and still i made "mistakes". I would like to share this info with other newbies in the hopes that you won't make the same mistakes i did.
OK, so if i'm so brilliant and i did all this research and advance reading before buying a E cig, what mistakes did I make? I'm glad you asked. First thing is, and this is not really a mistake, more like i didn't really know what i wanted out of an Ecig. Like a lot of smokers i'm a creature of habit. I thought it would be wise to buy a product that resembles an analog cig. Part of my addiction was the rituals, packing the pack of smokes, tapping a fresh cig against a lighter, lighting the cig, ashing the cig, having something in my hand, oral fixation, all that jazz. In my case it turned out to be a mistake. I didn't want something that resembled a cig, i wanted something that delivered nicotine and kept me from having fits.
So the first mistake I made was I bought a product because of its cosmetics, not because of its ability to function. Don't get me wrong, the Blu has its place. It is compact, easy to use, resembles an analog and, if you were lucky enough to get an atty that actually works from blu, you'll get an OK vapor from it. The PCC is sweet, probably the best i've seen so far in the industry. On the downside, the battery life is garbage, the cartridges all taste the same to me (except the menthol, which tasted like a slightly minty version of everything else) and they are incredibly small, so they don't last long. Certainly not as long as Blu claims they will last. One more drawback, if you refill your blu carts, you void the one year replacement warrenty. That would be just fine, but Blu isn't exactly very timely when it comes to filling their orders. I was told it would take 4 days to get the unit, it took almost two weeks. It took almost 2 more weeks to get my next order of carts. I ran out and ended up back on analogs out of despiration. Back to the upside though, as a creature of habit, holding an Ecig that looks and feels very much like an analog cig, well, thats a plus.
I had my blu for less than 24 hours before i decided that i liked the CONCEPT of vaping, but didn't much care for the product i chose. Its one thing to sit here, reading about all the various products available, reloading carts, how to clean an atty etc....its another thing to actually use an Ecig. It was only after getting my blu that i REALLY understood a lot of what i read here on ECF. And that is why i take the time to write this post today. I already did the "guinea pig" thing, and i hope my experience will save a few other newbs the frustration i went through.
Don't get me wrong, I still use my blu, its very convenient if you're out on the town for example. The PCC looks like and is the same size as a pack of analog cigs, it hold extra carts, it charges your battery. And for those reasons i have continued to use my blu from time to time. But if you are looking for consistent performance, longer battery life, and u want to save money, get a different brand. One that doesn't mind if you refill with whatever brand of juice u prefer.
After only two weeks of vaping with Blu, and having spent much time going through the forums here on ECF, i decided to try the Joye eGo. Wow, what a HUGE difference. Much better vapor, MUCHMUCHMUCH better battery life, and of course u can refill your carts. If only i could go back in time, start over, and only buy one Starter Kit, that would be nice, but alas, the money is already gone. I hope my fellow newbs take the time to read this article. I hope it helps. Depending on what you are looking for maybe the Blu (and the other super mini's out there) are just what you need. I came in to this as a 2 pack a day smoker and I quickly realized i wouldn't be satisfied with vaping unless, well, I had some freakin' vapor! The eGo fills the bill for me.
One more thing...i've only delt with a couple vendors so far, but I'm already a HUGE fan of Route66Vapor.com These guys are on top of it. Super fast order filling, very friendly. Hell they even stuck a hand written note inside my last order thanking me for my business! Who takes the time to do THAT anymore?
DISCLAIMER: I'm still a newb too and a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. That said I hope this helped my fellow newbs. Feel free to hit me up if u think i might be able to help you. Also, please leave comments so i can respond and get my post count up! LOL Thanks!
