My apologies for my first post being a plea for help. Have enjoyed reading ECF for awhile and should get into some dialogue.

GG community:

I went to VCC in Tampa and a very nice gentleman from an Oklahoma store had some used mods on the bottom shelf. I saw something that looked like a GG and said, "What's that?". Next thing you know, I'm dropping $225 on the mod with Odysseus hybrid mode on top. I was ecstatic. Then I went online at home 2 hours away and rarely saw anything resembling my setup. I don't think this guy was capable of slighting me, he was very amiable indeed BUT:

1)Is the mod real? Is the Odysseus real?

2)Looks like a revision 2? What materials is it made of and

3)Which part and where do I need to go to get a cap to fit my 510 gear?

Thank you so so much for any help on this. The only thing that made me question it is that the Odysseus feels like it has a plastic wick channel inter. If it is ceramic, it sure feels like plastic.

It says the GG on the side. Logo above button. and "by imeo" opposite side of the GG. and opposite side of fire button 2946.

What do I have? 2014-02-23 10.48.26.jpg2014-02-23 10.47.34.jpg

I took the Odysseus apart and I cleaned the ceramic piece again and what I though was plastic at first glance is indeed ceramic. I have since found pictures of this GG and after cleaning it, using it...

It's got to be real, if not, it is the most amazing clone I've ever seen. I have done a lot of research on the GG even before getting this piece but I have no real "in the wild" experience with it. It feels really solid, the firing button kicks ...., and the threads are pretty damn smooth. No crunchiness on neither the mod nor the Odysseus. I have an original 69 all brass from Atmomixani, an Nzonic original and 2 clones (chi-you and caravela), and the clone machining don't come close to this piece.

I'm pretty confident that I scored the real thing but I still can't find a definitive resource for this piece. Again, seems like a Revision 2 GG but I don't know the alloy nor what top cap I need to buy to put my other attys on(the Odysseus is in hybrid mode).

Any help would still be very very appreciated.

Thanks so much!

PS also, I've been jerry rigging a dripper on it(you know, no top cap so there is an inch gap between the, well, top cap where the drip catcher is supposed to be(temporarily so that I could see it fire). It hits like a dream.

When I get the Odysseus coiled and running, what ratio VG/PG is optimal? I've been dripping 100% Organic VG lately but it should clog tanks and their wicking system no? Thanks again.

A little hard to tell without being able to see it a bit closer, but it looks like it very well may be real. I can tell you it appears to be stainless steel, and if so, that serial number had not been registered yet. The clear tank on the Odysseus is not original, but aftermarket, maybe made by Kir Fanis, but I think there were one or two others who made them.

If you want the original top cap(you would also need either the GGTS adapter or a combination of chinese made adapters to use your 510 stuff), you might have a hard time finding one outside of the classifieds, as the GGTS's are'nt made any more. The "Just GG" took it's place. You can use a Just GG lid on the GGTS though, you would need the lid THE GOLDEN GREEK MODS :: Just GG Accessories :: Just GG SS Lid - Esmokeguru , the firing pin THE GOLDEN GREEK MODS :: Just GG Accessories :: Just GG Lid's Brass Center Pin - Esmokeguru , and also the o-rings for the firing pin. THE GOLDEN GREEK MODS :: O-rings :: Just GG O-rings - Esmokeguru

Would'nt hurt to look over what esmokguru has as far as extra parts for the GGTS and Ody, some things, like plastic parts and o-rings are good to have spares of, it's better to get them while they are available then not have them when you need them.

Thanks for the reply bacc.vap!

I did take it to Clouds of Vapor recently and it most certainly is real. I got the Ody set up(really wish it was an Ithaka), and picked up a Penelope V2 there. Great people at that place too.

I now have a GG stealth topcap and separately, a long piece that adapts the hybrid connector to 510 and makes it flush with drip catcher piece. It has copper contact inside. They say it's a unicorn. It works fantastic. Edit: brass not copper.
