I guess I may have inadvertently started some small "skirmishes" on some threads.

When I see a new model reviewed, I ask how it compares to a SD. Not to challenge the SD, but because I consider the SD to be a highly regarded standard.

I did own a SD for about 3 weeks. It was the 2nd PV i had purchased. I sold it because I still wanted a PV that most closely resembled an analog.

I regretted the sale about 2 weeks later.

I do appreciate your posts Trog. You have a wealth of info to offer, and I will continue to follow your advice.

dang Walrus... what are you doing? First you're like some neon alien... then you're hoomin again... now you're some kind of red white blue green alien again?

Trog - I liked the SD so well - I just bought my second one little over a week ago.

Doggone euro conversion rate torques me though. I paid $166 for the first one and $184 for the second. But I paid it cuz the SD absolutely rocks!

what's an SD? LOL! (from the dumb newbie)....seriously....

It's one of the best PV's that you can buy when it comes to consistent, long battery life performance. And the picture makes it look bigger than it is. It is the same size as the DSE901 and uses the same atomizer. And replacement batteries cost $2 instead of $15-$20 like most PV's.

And I'm going to say this: In the thread Trog recently posted in, he did not tread on any toes nor violate any rules. He made a couple of very informative posts!

I was watchin that thread, someone asked some questions about the SD, and Trog came in and answered them, and added more info about all kinds of batteries etc, then the "whiskers" came in and threatened Trog, , then closed the thread. Made absolutely NO sense, and the first thing I thought was, oh great, another power tripping adult weilding their "power" for nothing. SD rocks, Trog, you rock! I fully expect to be chastised or banned for backing you up, and guess what, could care less.. rock on Trog

Walrus didn't threaten anyone. He just informed them they were treading extremely close to breaking manufacturer forum rules. IMHO if Walrus had not closed the thread within 5-10 posts BOTH Trog & Imeo would have crossed the line and been banned.

I don't know how many of the new mods have previous forum moderation experience. Some of them sit quitely in the background doing the job discreetly and others like to flex their keyboard muscles publicly at any opportunity. (I'm not naming names or pointing fingers , this is just my view on it ). A good mod is one who is not seen to be doing his/her job openly , but none the less still doing it.

This heavy modding is a new era in this forum..and I for one am gonna keep schdum until everyone finds their modding feet :) It's probably a steep learning curve for everyone but it'll hit a nice balance in time ...I hope

ApO.

edit : before this gets too fiery and we get some muscle flexers appear , just like to draw your attention to this sticky : http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/20962-moderator-abuse.html

I think Trog has a point that, now we have moderators everywhere, it might be possible again for suppliers to post also outside of the suppliersforums.. just as long as they refrain from advertizing for themselves (and spamming anything). Worth a good look at least - though, if I am honest, I am a bit afraid that some suppliers (not the oldtimers including Trog, or ECA-suppliers) would soon be spoiling it for the others again...
Still, it could be worth a try perhaps, a bit down the road from now.

IMHO I think suppliers and manufacturers posting outside their areas is ok. As long as they are not promoting their items. Just chatting about different things or whatever. Giving advise when needed and the like.

It is when they start saying my product does this or that is when then line has been crossed. I have gotten alot of information and help from manufacturers about battery uses and such. They are an awesome resource because they have tried about everything.

It sounds to me like the moderators are lacking adequate rules for moderation. Years ago I was the U.S. west coast hub for 4 QWK mail systems, had the 'power' to delete mail from 100's of thousands of people. Don't remember ever needing to, but of course that was waaay before Spammers were such a problem and the volume wasn't nearly as great even with all those people.

Moderation requires..er..moderation and some sense.

I agree completely. My SD is the only PV I use anymore. And Trog is outstanding when it comes to answering all questions about the device.
