So rip off rebranders are a major problem in this industry. I'm talking about stuff like GreenSmoke, Green Nicotine, and other various shady mall kiosk dealers. These not only screw many people out of their hard earned money, but also some vendors such as Green Nicotine make claims that are damaging to this industry and feed off the fear that is spread by the FDA (prime example: "we agree with the FDA that fruit flavors are an unethical marketing ploy to teenagers and nonsmokers, so here at our company, we only have tobacco and menthol flavors designed with serious smokers in mind!"). Also, when people do realize that these are all scams, they have a hard time finding the good stuff. I've made a few threads about this before in other boards here, but I never thought a solution up until now. here's what I propose:

We talk to all the known reputable vendors who support CASAA, and, much like "USDA choice" beef, we make a label that says something along the lines of "CASAA choice/CASAA certified/CASAA reccomended, etc" and let the good guys put it on their packaging and websites. if somebody falsely puts this on their stuff, we threaten legal action against them, or if that's not possible, we take every opportunity we can to point out what lying rip off losers they are until they take our name off their stuff.

In addition to this, if this is financially viable at any point in time, we could have something to the effect of a "CASAA choice awards" show that could be broadcast online, and give awards such as "best mod", "best e-liquid" "best atomizer", etc.

I think this would be a fun way to separate the good stuff from the overpriced junk, as well as get us some more publicity. what do you guys think? good idea or over the top?

i like the idea, but i see a need for being clear about the goals of say, CASAA, of which truthfully i am not a member. But I like the idea of self-regulating and setting standards. Be much better plan than letting the FDA or whoever else dictate terms. I work for a company that met with a group that had certain standards, and we joined with them to create another criteria for an even better standard. So I think setting the bar high would also be beneficial.

I'm not an actual member of CASAA to be honest either, but I would love feedback from people who are! I just figured since CASAA's primary goal is to educate people about E-cigs, and has mentioned on their site that people should watch out for all the people out there to screw you over, that there should be an actual system for helping people find the e-cig that's right for them, no rule that says educating people can't be fun!

I personally would prefer for CASAA not to certify or endorse specific vendors at this point. In my opinion, it'd simply be too labor-intensive. CASAA has no "employees"--just volunteers, and not nearly enough volunteers, truth be told. :( There's no way we would have the manpower to monitor and enforce standards at this juncture.

But that doesn't mean that unethical vendors isn't an area of concern. In fact, CASAA has been quite vocal in highlighting misleading advertising and scams:

CASAA.org

I would encourage both of you to consider becoming CASAA members. Members give of their time as they are able, so it doesn't have to be a huge time commitment (unless, of course, you want it to be :) ). We meet every other Sunday, and our next meeting will be this Sunday, June 5th.

There's a lot of work to do, and we can always use people who want to get involved. And with more bodies, as time goes on, we can tackle more projects. :)

I mean I wasn't necessarily talking about now, but maybe down the road once CASAA becomes more well funded. Does CASAA only meet in one place or do they have regional meetings? I live in St. Louis, is there any place near there where CASAA meets? either way, I'd love to donate some money, which I plan on doing eventually, but I'm short on funds right now

You're in luck . . . CASAA members meet everywhere. Actually, we meet on the internet via Team Speak. :2cool:

As for meetings in your area, the St. Louis folks gather monthly at Side Pockets in St. Charles (3rd Saturday of the month, 4:30 p.m. until whenever). It's not a CASAA meeting . . . just a social gathering to share our love of all things fog-producing, although CASAA is often a topic of conversation (and in a good way).

I won't lie . . . money is important. But just as important as money is actually having bodies willing to roll up their sleeves and do some work. Check out a CASAA meeting. You don't have to donate money in order to be a CASAA member . . . donations of time and effort are welcome as well.

oh hey I just saw you're from St. Louis too! give me the address of where you meet, I live in Wildwood off 109 about 1 mile (if that) north of 100, so st. charles isn't far at all! not to completely derail this thread, but are there any good vapor stores in the area that sell stuff for the KR808-D1? I know about move2vapor and I turn 21 exactly 2 months from now, and I'll buy stuff from them when I turn 21 and they'll let me buy, but do you know of any other locals I could go to? also, is there somewhere around here that sells more swedish snus than General? I wanna try some purified snus but I don't want to pay $8 extra for a $3 can, and then have to pray I'm off work the day it comes so I can sign for it, and go through all that trouble just to TRY something
