I hope I've started this thread in the right sub-forum.

I have a 510 and have heard some good things about cartomizers. I've been thinking about buying an adapter that would allow me to use the 510 battery with a carto. The 510 is great but I would like to be able to use a cart that is lower maintenance at certain times.

So, would it be worth it? I've read that many cartos use juice efficiently and don't need to be refilled until most of the juice has been vaporized. Do they provide good vapor and throat hit?

I really enjoy the 510 but it might be cool to be able to use cartos for convenience sometimes, like when I'm on the go.

So what are your thoughts?

Thanks!

I have a Vapor King that uses cartomizers and I really like it. It doesn't have the problems that I read about with other models. It's great with flavor and throat hit, and it's easy to refill.

If vapor is critically important to you, cartomizers may disappoint. Compared to some of the videos I've seen showing vapor from other models, the VK falls short in that department. My priorities are ease of use, flavor/taste and throat hit, so I am very happy with the VK. It does a great job without a lot of fuss.

I've been using cartomizers on a 510 Chuck after using them on an KR808D-1. I got a 510 to cartomizer adapter at Altsmoke.com for the Chuck.
You can't beat the convenience of those over other methods--you screw them on the battery and vape away. Makes them perfect for travel/commute or at work.
How long they last is going to depend on how much you vape. I go through maybe a cart a day or day-1/2, but I've read of people going through 2-3 carts/day.
It seems like throat hit and vapor are related to mg of nicotine in the carto--higher nic stronger hit, but possibly less vapor. I've gotten great vapor out of the 18's and 12's I've been using, with the 18's giving definitely stronger throat hits. Tried a Parliament 24mg from Vapor4Life that was a choker for me.
I've been getting into refilling and have some cartos that have gone through 8 refillings so far. It's also let me experiment with some other juices, like some VG that boosts up the vapor for sure.

Don't know what your finances are like, but $12+ for the adapter and $10-12 for some cartomizers and you'll have first-hand knowledge and not too much out of pocket. Definitely recommend carto's.

Here's a link to the adapter I'm using:
AltSmoke Battery Adapters - Adapters - PV Parts
To order this adapter, take notice of the 2 pulldown menus on the right hand side where you choose the battery you have and what you're trying to connect to.

Thanks. Those are all really helpful replies. There are just times when I don't feel like breaking out a bottle and refilling. I work at a drug rehab and well....it looks druggy. Or when I'm driving of course. I don't consider myself a heavy vaper. Unless I'm sitting at the computer I usually take 10 or 12 good drags per hour, about the same as an analog, so I feel like I may be able to get a little more mileage out of the right carto. I've done a little reading since I created this thread and from what I can see performance issues with cartos is somewhat related to which supplier they come from. Is this correct?

I don't know. The only cartomizer I've ever used is from Vapor4Life. Aside from a recent lot of dry ones (a manufacturing error that the V4L people made good on and replaced, no questions asked), they've been terrific. They're good for when you're out and about. The batteries on the Vapor King have a long life, as does a freshly filled carto.

I'm sure there are others of the same type out there but I don't know what they're called.
