What I see in the local vape shop crowd is lots of sub ohmers. A year or two ago the air was clear. Now, there might be only two or three customers, but they are sitting at a table drinking a cup of free coffee and blowing plumes.

Most new vapers are buying the cheaper starter kits and then graduating to whatever their friends are doing. Some know what they want and others don't.

juice in the shops I've been in don't match my preferences. I've walked around the juice bar in several vape shops and sampled the entire lot. Even from various juice brands they mostly have the same under taste that throws me off. I like clean juices and I always come back to Hangsen and Dekang because of that.

I'm pretty non-picky when it comes to juices. I've hardly ever found a single-fruit flavor house juice with 50% or higher PG that I didn't like. However, there was one shop whose juice always tasted "washed out" and would also cause my coils to fail within like 2 days. It was advertised as 50-50, but I dunno. They looked closed the last time I drove by. There is another local shop that has gone to 70 % VG only (to limit their SKU's as a result of deeming), so they are off my radar now, too, unfortunately. Even though we may technically have 2 years for the full force of deeming to hit, our options are already starting to dwindle at the local level.

Sometimes I just have to shake my head.......

No disrespect to the op, but another thread leading to the demonization of those evil B&M's! Forget for a minute the difference between overhead and inventory acquisition costs. Vape shops should hire only highly knowledgeable employees so they can properly set up and teach the intricacies of your purchase. Just like all the online vendors do, right?.

So any other noobs (and vapers in general) doing their due diligence to research run across all the posts saying "stay away from local vape shops" or "you will never catch me going into a B&M", taking all the great advice, go "all online" and ultimately reduce the number of potential B&M customers resulting in? Higher prices and the inevitable demise of B&M's. I guess the "good news" is nobody will be getting an bad advice then, or any for that matter.

But all is good since government is leading the fight against those evil B&M's! Mine is already alerting customers that, come August, we are on our own building and wicking. Good thing we have online vendors to take over the roll of helping new vapers.

The guy that runs my closest shop says that he's bought messed up mechs and badly resoldered mods from people a couple times just to get them off the street, before they cause trouble.

but a simple eGo kit is still the most important product we have to offer to the current smoker.

Good "pen" style vapes are good, but if by eGo you mean CE4s and the like, frankly I think vape shops sometimes carry them to "prove" that you need better. Then they overprice and underfeature anything close. I don't think they're entirely wrong pushing Subtanks, as long as they don't go even bigger for the beginners. Except for the old crowd with weak lungs, those that can afford them probably do find them more effective.
