Rather Eurocentric, though. She left out the two-year court battle in the U.S. that began in 2008 when the FDA put e-cigarettes on a Customs watch list to be confiscated as an unapproved drug and drug-delivery
device combination. One major brand at the time, Smoking Everywhere filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, asking for an injunction against the product seizures. Very shortly thereafter, Soterra, Inc., makers of
njoy products joined as a Plaintiff.
If that suit had not been filed, I believe the e-cigarette industry would not have lasted long in the U.S. For more details about this legal battle see
