A strange question?

A bout of pneumonia after Thanksgiving convinced me that it was finally time to quit smoking for good as I was having to use an emergency asthma inhaler to breathe for a bit. By Christmas I was pretty much back to normal, not smoking but after having been a smoker for 30 years pretty consistently the lack of nicotine was making my personality ....somewhat hostile if not outright volatile. Not to put too fine a point on it, people were avoiding me and as a field technician in IT, this wasn't good. I even found four cartons of my old analog brand on my car hood one morning, no doubt left by a good Samaritan.

I ran across the smoking anywhere website just by a dumb luck accident while searching the web and did not even stop to think before ordering a kit and extra cartridges overnight freight. I then checked with all the tobacconists in town and none had any idea what I was talking about. So even though I know I paid way too much for the product it arrived and worked exactly as described, possibly saving lives (my clients) and sanity (mine).

Here's the rub though. I really have always enjoyed smoking as it's pretty much the only vice I can claim. Now that I can again get my nicotine and the vaping habit is close enough to analogs that it satisfies the vice. I haven't been tempted to go back to the analogs at all. But I no longer feel any desire to quit the habit. I am a pretty consistent pack a day (3-4 cartridge) user and the e-cigs allow me to take a couple hits when the frustration level rises and all is good again. It's also been well received by everyone that has seen me puffing away, and a couple other techs I know have started using them instead of analogs (I steered them here to research first before buying as this is a fantastic reference library and the folks and vendors seem to be great folks)

Bottom line, I really don't want to or plan to quit vaping. What bothers me a small bit though is that most people seem to be using the e-cigs as a bridge to quitting the nicotine habit alltogether. So maybe I'm wrong in looking at this as a permenant replacement?
Opinions anyone?

Do what you want man! It's your life. Seriously. If you are happy with vaping for the rest of your life then go right ahead. I know you'll have a lot of company on this board.

I would like to get off the nicotine train at some point, but it's sort of a far off future dream of mine. For now I am happy that I don't smell like tobacco smoke, I don't burn holes in my clothes, I feel better and I can sneak a puff in the bathroom in the middle of a three hour meeting.

If it works for you, keep it up. Just get regular checkups and don't drink too much e-liquid... :)

I'm new - so,... I may change my mind - but i don't see me quitting this. If for some reason I could not e-smoke i believe i would go back to the non-digital version. Perhaps a traditional nicodine inhaler because I tried a non-digital and it was terrible. Put it out after 2 puffs. I think it's *very* possible to become more addicted to this.
