I was playing around today as the title says built a coil for a mechanical that acts like a TC. Here what I did, using a Hadaly atty, a clapton coil 28/36 316L, 2.5mm 1.0 ohm (10 wraps). The device a 20700 BF Boxer. It acts as if it was in a TC mod with the exception of being able to adjust it. Plenty of vapor and flavor with a fully loaded wick and reduces down to no vapor on a dry wick. Yet when wick is dry it won't burn. I know that SS wire can be a little jumpy but is this a fluke, has anyone else tried this.

does that make for a long ramp time ?

with the small wire there is hardly no ramp time with the 30amp batteries(Ijoy). That what I was doing (checking ramp time)when I was playing around with the small wire. As was said above it's like a 12 to 15 watt vape and the coils are not getting very hot. It's a smooth cool vape amazingly has really good flavor. It will completely dry the wick back to a original white, much like a TC setup.

Yup, I'd say you are mimicking TC alright. As the SS wire increases in resistance the power delivered diminish simply per physics. Builds over an ohm have a tendency to be a little TC-esk as they tend to ramp pretty quickly and "flatten out" pretty quickly too. I love TC but I use VW with all my toodle vapes. I've got a few old Lemos that are at about an ohm and they give me a real sweet flavored long flat vape that are just wonderful using VW. Having said all that, I haven't tested any of the by letting the wick dry out, so I have no idea if I'm getting any wick protection or not. Probably not.
