I've been trying to test the limits of the RES on my UltraMax to figure out how long it takes to get a dry hit. With my vaping style, I'll average about 4-5 long pulls before I get a dry hit. The first pull will be great, but the vapor and flavor will taper off on successive hits until I get a dry one on the fourth or fifth pull. Over the past few weeks I've noticed that the RES performs better when I use an atty/carto that has a tighter draw so my goal was to find a way to further tighten the draw.

PROBLEM: I realized that there is a pretty decent gap between the OD of the atty and the ID of the RES chamber, and it seemed as though a lot of the airflow was being lost through this gap. I figured that closing off that gap would create a more efficient airflow and result in better movement of fluid from the RES to the atty.

SOLUTION: My initial idea was to wedge an o-ring around the atty where it meets the top of the RES. The only problem was that I didn't have the proper sized o-ring. After digging through my tackle box of miscellaneous vaping gear, I ended up using a carto condom. I just trimmed off the end and slipped it over the atty.

RESULT: This quick-fix has definitely improved the RES performance. As expected, it resulted in a significantly tighter draw because now the airflow comes solely from the 5 air holes located on the RES cover. Others may not like the extremely tight draw, but I love it....especially since I have yet to get a dry hit (or any drop-off in vapor/flavor production). I've gone through 2 RES refills since lunch, and every pull has been as enjoyable as the one before it. So if you have a spare carto condom lying around, give it a try. It only takes a minute and the results are priceless!!!

I'm trying to find the most hassle free VP for a blue collar environment. I'm tired of dripping every 4 hits and ending up with juice down in my 510S battery. Dry/burnt hits etc. I figured since the Ultramax holds 2 ml of juice, you could pull on it for a few hours like this video states. Also says the RES holds 40 drips so I was guessing maybe 50 hits. Then I read your only getting 4-5 pulls? You can pull 2 ml in 5 pulls? Or does it just take a minute or two for the juice to refill the atty after you take 5 hits?

How many long hits do you get with the 2 ml res if you take a break after your 5 and with which voltage? thanks.

Vaping styles matter here, I think. I use the Ultra (not the Max) and I consistently get great flavor and vapor, even though I'm using a IMR 14500s and a 1.5Ω atomizer. I think it's because I take 3 to 4 second drags usually followed by another within 10 seconds. Then I don't take another for a good 20-30 seconds minimum.

I've always vaped this way, so I don't think I saw this issue. In trying out longer drags, I still didn't see it. When I took several repeated drags, however, I started to out-vape the RES on the 5th drag. With more testing, it seems like it takes me about a full minute before the RES replenishes my atomizer.

Like I said, not the UltraMax, but it may be helpful.

When I vape, I usually take 3-4 drags in a row and each drag is usually around 8-10 seconds long. With this vaping style, the RES would have a hard time keeping up with each subsequent drag. Before this quick fix that I did, I would have take a pull without activating the PV....in order draw more liquid into the atty. With the quick fix, I don't have to do this anymore. I can just keep vaping and not have to worry about the RES not keeping up.

I'm using the UltraMax at 3.7V, and with the fix I can get at least 2 hours of vaping (4-5 hits every 10 minutes).

I agree. If you're not taking super long pulls in succession, then you probably won't need to do this quick-fix.

I get about an hour out of the Ultramax RES, but I vape pretty heavily. Had to chunk the 1.5 ohms because I burn 50/50 juice with them. 2.0 ohms and I can hit as hard as I want and it doesn't burn. I get a little less time out of the 3.5-4 ohms attys at 6volts. I fill it before it gets empty though: when I notice a change in flavor.
