A Tutorial for a DIY VV Dual 18650 Wood mod

As promised. Here is a tutorial for building a VV wood mod. Using a OKR-T 6 amp switching regulator, Voltage display and dual 18650 batteries. This one is highlighting the differences from the other tutorial I posted before. So If you have not read it (What the heck is wrong with you

Mad Vapes

510 Connector

18650 Batteries 2 at least

Voltage Display - Only if you want to mount a outside display on the mod. It can be monitored with a screw on display or multimeter. But it is much easier with it already on there.

Horn Switch

Vapoligy

(2) Pairs Battery Spring Plates - Battery Spring Plate

Radio shack

PCB- Printed Circuit Board They have a few get the one that has a mix of 2,3,none, and continous connections between holes they sell
for aroung $2.50. Or if able to make your own.

Small magnets If needed

Digikey - Once again a big thank you to bstedh on the ECF forum for a great post and diagram. Here is a link if anyone wants to read
Easy OKR-T VV mod

OkR-T Switching Regulator comes in 3,6, and 10 amp sizes. I ordered a 6 amp for this one and a 3 amp for another mod. Very happy with both. Batteries last a lot longer than linear regulators.

Home Depot

1/4"x 1 1/2" x 24" Hobby Board - I went with the alder on this one.

3/4" screen - once again you can use any scrap piece you already have.

20 to 22 gauge wire

Tools Needed Same as before See Previous Tut

Here is the way I wired the pot ---- center pin of 200 ohm pot----one leg of 200 ohm resistor------other leg of 200 ohm resistor ----- to pin 5 of regulator.

Side leg of 200 ohm pot to neg/ground connections.

Should adjust between 3.3v to 6.5 approximately not sure whats different on yours please post a picture if this doesn't fix.

Yep that is how I did it. Was checking things with my meter and fried the vv chip some how so that project is done, unless I get another one, but with it not working the first time, I Don't think I will order a new one. Maybe the pot was bad who knows no way to test it again. AND I did get two pots oh well. Not sure where to go next, got the box the switches and all ready to go just need the vv again.

Here are pic's of mine .... after seeing how to make them thanks Sonar505

Thanks for posting I see you slightly recessed the meter and rounded the edges love your execution looks great. How do you like the way it works and feels? Also how what kind of wood and stain did you use. Trying to figure out how you got that nice striation pattern.

Sonar... I like the way it feels and it works like a charm, I think on the next one that I build I am going to put an adjustment hole for the pot for the voltage.
Well for the stain.... I did not have any, so what I did was take my torch and ran it over the wood slowly but not to slow... because a couple times on the edges it started to catch on fire. so I went a little more careful and just kept going over in different places until I got what I thought was a good look. The spots that were to dark, I just gave a light sanding. Then I put on 3 coats of clear to seal it up and give it a shine.

Thanks again Sonar for the great tutorial :vapor:
