A wick question

Howdy,

I just bought a vision eternity rba and some extra wick. The wicks that are supplied with it are light and fluffy, and the spare wick I've gotten is hard and very not fluffy. I've checked all my other atty wicks and they are all light and fluffy.

Is this normal for the diy wick or is something not right with it? The package it came in gave no info as to the brand, thickness, or if it's silica or god knows what.

Thank you.

It might be fiberglass instead of silica. Some sites are still selling cheap ... fiber instead of silica.

The big differences are silica is less vulernable to thermal shock and silica has a much higher safe max temp. ~1000C vs ~500C of fiberglass. Fiberglass splinters more easily also.

Definitely double check with the vendor and make sure it's actually silica. I did some testing with Fiberglass and decided it's way less than optimal for use in RBAs.

Where did you buy the wick from, can you post a link??

I bought it at the b&m store, didn't think to look at the website. Now looking on the website it does say glass fiber.

Does anyone know what kind of non vaping store might sell this stuff. I'm not keen making an order online just for a bit of 'string'.
