You can't convince someone of anything when they don't want to listen. So pick your battles wisely.
Here is your future: No ifs, ands or butts
Here is your future: No ifs, ands or butts
The way I see it:
It's not smoking. Vapor is not smoke. It's only the visual aspect of watching someone vape, that it looks like smoking, that seems to be the issue. Which of course is ridiculous. It wasn't that long ago you watched Colombo with a cigar interviewing a patient in a hospital and people thought that was normal.
I agree we need to loose the "cigarette" moniker and just stick with personal vaporizer.
Exactly, if our pvs were administering an antibiotic that our bodies needed to fight an infection I dont think people would be as shy about using it.
People still duck into the bathroom to administer an insulin shot or take medicines in private but thats primarily a personal preference.
If I'm sick I have ZERO issues with whipping out a bottle of cough syrup and a spoon and giving myself a mouthful in public.I view vaping much the same way. The attention doesnt bother me, I want it so others know about this and can view it positively.
Hiding it away makes it seems we are doing something wrong
I'm not sure how I feel about this all yet, but based on what I've already seen/shared, I think careless people are just gonna ruin things for others, and it has always been the case.
They do that because they have a disease. That if untreated can lead to death.
You do it because you're addicted to it. If left non-satiated, you get cravings.
Apples to oranges.
But don't you understand? GOOOOOSH!!! We can do whatever we want, wherever we want. We're not smoking. That's precisely the attitude that WILL get vaping banned. Then you can thank precious, holier than thou selves.

This is BS. Sorry to say, but seemingly recently, a LOT of vapers thinking they're entitled to vape anywhere (c'mon, hospitals and other non-smoking areas?) are just as much to blame as ANTZ for this. I know people are going to flame me and? Not me! I know for a damn fact I'm not the only one that knows this is true.![]()
DC2,
I guess it depends on how fastidious smokers/vaporers are.
I have dogs, and when I'm in the campgrounds of national forest, or anywhere for that matter, and what if somebody pours out some nic juice on the ground, and my dogs, or even a wild animals, licks it up (esp. if peanut butter flavoring LOL) .
These are concerns.
I spend a lot of time at boat ramps and national forests, given my regional setting, I can't tell you how often I have to go to our waterfalls/spring fed creeks, with garbage bags, and clean up after people. (ciggie butts too).
Maybe "habits" are best practiced at home, esp. if they contain ANYTHING that could be harmful to other people and/or pets?

This is why I ask that vaporers practice being ultra-courteous.
But nicotine is a poision, lets not forget this. It can kill small animals, babies, etc. Therefore, caution should be used, yes?
quite frankly, when I'm out in the woods, the only thing that belongs out in the natural environment are things that are indigenous to the natural environment. That doesn't include alcohol, nicotine, or our trash/garbage like paper, bottles, boxes, or anything else.
I've had many high veterinary bills from taking my dogs for a swim, and people leaving behind fishing lures and tackle on the ground and right below the water's edge..........where young children and dogs end up getting injured by sharp hooks.
So, count me as a tree hugger I guess.![]()
Ok first things first, we need to as a community "Coin" a new term for Electronic Cigarettes that does not include the word Cigarette.
I like how the powers that be just lump the eCigs in there like congress slapping something totally unrelated to the back of a new bill or law; most times without the public knowing about it.

Did you see the list of bans I listed earlier in this thread? But don't you understand? GOOOOOSH!!! We can do whatever we want, wherever we want. We're not smoking. That's precisely the attitude that WILL get vaping banned. Then you can thank precious, holier than thou selves.

I think the most important thing, like Thrasher said, is contacting our officials
You want irony? How about Santa Cruz who (has in the past, at least) repeals thier "no smoking in public" law every April 20th for a pot festival.
Anyway - I'm fine with following the rules for smokers. I'm fine with not vaping anywhere there is no smoking allowed. If they ever completely banned cigarettes, I would be OK with them banning vaping, too. But if they try to ban vaping without banning smoking . . .that would be grounds for civil disobediance![]()
You will always have a certain percentage of people who will sit there and do nothing, even when it is important to them.
And a certain percentage who will see a problem and try to do something about it.
But nobody will do anything at all if nobody realizes there is a problem.
And so that is the purpose of this thread...
To let people know that their is a growing, creeping problem.
And it affects people who want to vape anywhere.
And it affects people who only care to vape where smoking is allowed.
And if also affects everyone between the two extremes.
The more people that know, the more people who will try to do something about it.
