So went by my local E store to purchase some real Ego T 1000s..
The owner showed me his collection of the knock offs he had sent to him.. He keeps them around for sample puffs and to show his clients them.. I was just wow... For awhile I thought I had some real Ego 650s.. but I was wrong.. Mine had a white stamp with Ego and model number on the black body near the bottom.. He showed me the knock Ego 650 he had, same thing.. and he showed me a real one.. On the metal collar has CE acid stitched on, not engraved or stamped.. and at the bottom has a circular symbol E , and a dull white stamp on the body stating a model number (not a super white stamp).. He said he heard that bad things has happened with the knock offs, but never personally have one happened.. :?:

I'm more willing to get a knock off clearo, especially rebuilds.. but not a knock off power unit.. just my opinion..

LOL, bad things also happens to "genuine" joyetech Egos as well (go ahead and do a search "Ego exploded" and "Ego blew up." Don't fall into the trap of a "genuine" made in China product is better and safer than its made in China knock offs. As a vaper, make sure you know how to take care of your device and always watch out for signs of danger. Just my :2c:

The mark on the bottom Joyetech uses by their name also,so maybe thats a trademark. I got 8 Joyetech and 2 knock-offs, easy to tell on price alone. Only day 93 for me so to early .......no problems yet.
Don't leave none of this China stuff charging over night. When done charging, unplug it.

How do you tell the difference between real and fake? I bought from a place that says they sold real ones, and they definitely LOOK real, but now I'm curious!
GO to the manufactors website.......if you want to buy say, Joyetech, like i wanted to. Joyetech has a list of dealers.

My big gripe isn't with knock-offs really. Units like the Kgo are sold as Kgo, they have their own brand recognition. It's when these knockoffs are being sold as Egos. Not ego style, but labelled and sold as them.

There's a pretty big difference between the two types of knock-off, imho.

Also, as far as I know Joyetech doesn't do OEM branding, so if it has any other name printed on sleeve (easy to copy but meh), it's not a Joyetech.

Unfortunately a lot of people could be turned off of ecigs as a result of a possibly shoddy kit. Not much can be done about it though, cat's outta the bag and had kittens. Several litters now.

Actually some knock offs like the kgo's are better than the ego's, ego's have a regulated 3.3 volts the kgo's have an unregulated 3.7.

Not saying all are worth it, but don't think they are all bad due to a few rotten apples.

But, the real point is, is it a Kgo -SLB TECHNOLOGY, I THINK- or is it a company that just started making batteries in 2012 and puts a Kgo sticker on it. After spending 2 days looking, i found dozens of Chinesse co. with start dates of 2012 making e-cig products, some even calling their products- VIVI NOVA AND VISION.

For what you said in the op, would it matter being as the kgo is a knock off of the ego. You classed all knock offs together, which was my point.

As a beginner, I didn't even think about the aspect of knock-offs. Is there a site or a guide for proper care of E-cigs?

Some people might consider me off the wall here...but I have both "genuine Joyetech" eGos and a couple of other brands...including the SLB kGo, BetterLife and Hello brands. The Joyetech is fine ...but it's not THAT "superior" in my opinion. I get better battery life from the BetterLife batteries, and my Hello Twist works just the same as the Joyetech one. As for the SLB kGo...I got mine from Hoosier's e-Cig Supply and they are very solid units. VERY. I also got the kGo version of the VV...which works excellent.

Sometimes Americans put far too much importance on the "brand" of something. If something else has the quality and meets or exceeds the performance of the branded thing....in my mind it's perfectly acceptable. I've not heard of ANY e-cig or mod that is totally immune to failure or burning or whatever. No such critter. Even a cell phone can blow up if overcharged. Just be realistic and you'll be fine.
