Yeah, chopping a ring out of middle of cap and finishing with an outside ring to stabilize. Seems like a not too awfully costly modification. No costly thread machining needed.

I'll bet many of us could do the mod with just a few simple tools we have in our garages (dremmel) and some non-toxic JB Weld. But then again, time is money (time locating a suitable outside tube for ring and doing the work), so I'll settle on Hornet and Surface for a shorter rba that fits our smaller REOs.

My Surface won't be here until next week. I just went back to site and checked the height of it; 40.8mm. It certainly doesn't look taller than the A7. I wonder if that measurement includes the DT you can purchase with it. I'll ask ChrisEU as he has received his Surface.

Wow I still have some in my drawer when using my Joyetech 510.. I was thinking about cutting a small piece to put into the drip tip to absorb any stray juice before getting to my mouth.

Hi Buzz,

I like the stock A7 as well. I do run mine with one of the air holes plugged though for a tighter draw. I haven't used an RBA with the side air hole though so I can't really make a comparison between the two.

The holes are right above the threads of the male end where it screws on to the mod. It's just like a regular carto or atty.

i have tried the side air hole RBAs and i prefer the air holes on the bottom which is why i prefer the A7

You are not alone. The Chalice and the REOmizer, both good attys for different reasons, both have side air and both rob you of the blind squonk. The A7 gives that blind sqonk back. I'm a happy chappy.

I'm not even sure who the creators of the A7 are, but they have a winner.
If i was able to get a shorter top cap, It would sit on my Reo as the everyday setup. But the ERA jumps ahead, due to it being shorter, and more pocket friendly.

YUP!

Both setups are SS.
The A7 is showing an older setup that i was toying around with, 400 SS and 32ga. Kanthal.

I've since switched to 500 SS mesh with 30 ga. similar to my ERA.

With about 6-8 dry-burns on the coil, it still vapes like new....
30ga. has lasted me the longest...
28ga. was just overkill.

I see, so do you guys get more juice in the juice well because of this? I sometimes have to wipe the REO where the hole is pointing at because of stray juice but I might prefer the bottom hole if it's cleaner.

Blind squonking with a chalice is no problem as it all goes back down immediately anyway. I squonk every other hit to make sure my cotton wick stays wet.

A7's are just all throat hit and flavor for me. For some reason I can't get any vapor going (in comparision to the Hornet and Chalice which blow clouds). I have tried multiple setups. I am going to rebuild it again and see if it gets any better.

I really like the warmer vape of the Hornet. If you face the airhole down and towards you and squonk you get a slight gurgle in the hole. The Hornet and Chalice are the winners so far in my book.

The air intake on the A7 was way too much from the bottom, and now I plugged up one side and the draw is better...but it feels like a lopsided draw.
