Aaaargh..everything tastes like feet and chemicals!

So I got my flavoring from PA and Flavor art and I tried mixing them as recommended- or at least what I could find was recommended- and everything tastes like feet and perfumey chemicals. lol
I've tried diluting down but there is this artificial, chemical taste that seems to come through on all my mixes. Well, not all, but most. By the time I dilute down enough to tame the chemmie taste, the flavors get real weak...
I know you guys all pull this off, so what am I doing wrong? Is it just that I need to try other flavorings? Right now I am mostly working with tobaccos to try and nail down a tobacco taste I can live with.
One more thing.. how do you account for the fact that flavors stay in your atty as you mix? Or that you mouth gets inured to the tastes after a while?

The first question that MUST be answered is, what does your base taste like?

All the help in this forum about flavors won't help if the issue is that your PG, VG, and/or Nic is not actually flavorless.

Which is also how I clear flavors out of my atty is from vaping my mixing base for a bit.

Mr Hoosier, you are quite correct. I received a new batch of VG, PG and nic and right off the bat the color is different, the taste is very different from vaping my other older batch of vg and pg. Its helping. Some of the flavors are still very "off" to me- a strong chemical aftertaste on some. Some are tobacco flavors that people here have raved about, but I think I am just not diluting right.
So I am starting from scratch.
I am goign to have to take this one flavor at a time and figure out how they behave individually.

Do you let them steep , or do you vape them straight away? Tobacco flavours need time to "meld" their components. Leave it for a week , and go back and try it again , you may be quite surprised with the result.

10% is the strongest I go on tobacco type flavors, they go from heavenly to nasty in just a few %.

Fruity stuff I do 20%, anyone ever complain about too much strawberry?

Ejuicemeup is the calc I use for mixing. Make sure your plug in the numbers in right.

Steeping, odd how that didn't occur to me. So how do you know if a mix is working when you mix? I usually add a few drops, taste, add a few more drops of something else and taste, etc. If the flavor changes over time, then how do you know if a mix is "right"? Just wait? lol.
OK, DIY, is not nowhere near as simple as I thought it would be!
Stownz- I downloaded ejuicemeup and the ejuice calculator (By Scubabatdan) but I am still just trying to get the basic ingredients to work right.
For example I have PA tobacco Absolute and it tastes like feet to me. I maybe mixed too strong, or need to steep, or is it that flavors arent really meant to be on their own and you just have to mix different flavors for them to work?
I'll get good at this if it kills me.......

You may be able to speed up the steeping for mixing trials by putting the bottle into a hot water bath. I DIY mostly fruits, liquor, and menthol flavors, haven't tried tobacco.......yet

How are you using the TA? It is powerful stuff. I dilute it down so I can use it as a flavoring. (and I usually use it with other flavorings). If you are mixing undiluted TA at 5%, I'd be amazed if it only tasted as bad as feet.

Some folks use TA alone or with some EM and are quite happy with it. My diluted TA mix is just another flavoring in my arsenal, but I don't like one dimensional tobacco flavor, so having TA is nearly a requirement. A few drops of the diluted mix can really and something.

I think you tend to go in a certain direction with a liquid ( ie sweet , fragrant , nutty etc ) . When I start to get pretty close to what I want , I stop , leave the bottle unsealed overnight ( this speeds up the steeping process) and try it again the next day. I can then make any adjustments required. Making a good juice is time consuming , you shouldnt rush it .

Thanks for the recommendations everyone, curiously I had left one of my mix bottles aside from the first day I mixed and forgot about it. I just tried it and the flavor seems a lot less "chemical". Lesson learned- steep!
Hoosier- yes, I definitely think I overdid it. I diluted but I think I misunderstood just how dilutions should work. And yes, I can see it as an addition to the recipe, but not a base in an of itself. At least now for me. As to the atty I was using that I tasted it on? it gone, trashed. I found that even vaping pure vg/pg the flavor was stuck in the atty and not going anywhere any time soon. I wish I had a picture of when I first tasted that TA unproperly diluted. I just about threw up and passed out at the same time.
