If you want the best mech mod. Think about this you can buy the latest greatest the next few times they come up. Search the forum to find the tweaks you must preform to make them work properly. And spend all that money and still just have a mech mod. Or you could check out the Reosmods forum. Lurk around a week and see how helpful the folks there are and take note of the owner of the company and maker of the mods actually on the forum. See what it would be like to have a one handed dripper. Know that whatever problem you have can be answered by many folks on that forum or the owner will make it right if it's a fault of his. (you'll never get that elsewhere) I suggest getting a Reo Grand with a RM2.0 rba this topper was designed to fit this mod and work perfect. If by some odd circumstance you don't like the mod you can sell it in the classy's for very near what you paid for it. The only thing you'll have to think about then is which other Reo you want. Maybe you can buy several mechs for the price of a Reo with a RM2.0 but all of these mechs will die before the Reo

The reo people are starting to feel cultish to me...

... doesn't mean I don't want one, however...

I recently went with a Magneto as my first mech mod. I'm loving it. The only problem I have with it is the pin not being moveable. If they fix that, it perfect. I love the magnetic bottom button.

The new Magnetos have an adjustable pin. *Shooting self in foot after buying a new toy right when it was released*

I use the 8W it's not bad for a cheap mod.
Technically... IMO, it's not a "cheap mod" but more, what I call a "budget mod"... and a nice one at that.
There are genuinely cheap mods out there... most anything that's normally priced under $20 falls into the cheap mod category. If they don't have substantial voltage drop and last a year... you're doing good.

I break it down as follows:

  • Cheap mods: Regularly priced under $20
  • The weird twilight zone between $20 & $30 can sometimes be filled with Sigeleis on sale, and stuff from FT
  • Budget mods: mid $30s to upper $40s - Sigeleis and Smoks mostly. (Under $30 for either is always nice)
  • Budget premium mods: $50 to $100 - EhPros like the Nzonic and Caravela "style" mods. Some of the Pinoys.
  • Premium mods: $100-$200 - Zenisis, GP PAPS, Genuine Nzonic, Nemesis, Some of the Pinoys.
  • Uber Premium mods: Over $200 - Atomo, Mankos, GP PAPS X, Zenisis, Caravela, Windrose, Titanide Themis.
  • "Stupid Money" mods: Otto Carter et al...

Good for a *budget* mod then : ]

You can get them to look pretty nice, I polished the brass on mine for example. I'll take some pics later on.
Yeassss'er... good for a "B-Mod". ;-)

Polish away... they just stay pretty until you use them again. A good reason not to pay extra for shiny shiny. :)
