Hi folks :)

I've been researching e-cigs for a couple weeks now and am ready to dive in. 'Course, head first in the kiddie pool is always a bad idea so I wanted to run some things by you more experienced vapers first.

Just an FYI: I'll start abbreviating stuff when I'm more comfortable with the terminology.

I'm thinking very hard about getting an eGo kit, preferably in blue. I figure if I'm gonna drop analogs, I might as well go all the way. My main concern is battery charge and juice quantity. I don't work at a desk job and can't take super regular breaks so I need all day battery life (at least 9 hours) and 6-10 cigs worth of juice. I generally inhale one cig every 90ish minutes (my record is 77 seconds) and 2 at lunch.

So, with a couple cartridges and both batteries charged I should be golden.

Now, I've found an eGo kit at valuevapor.com for $45 but it only comes in black, has 1 Mega atomizer, 5 cartridges, a usb/wall charger and 2 batteries.

The mega atomizer I'm not too sure about. Is that the same as a Joye 510 atomizer? I don't think so, but I just don't know. If not, which is better? I want to 'cool' down my throat hit as after 20 years of analogs, I'm tired of the burn, literally. I do know that I'll need a couple more atomizers so I just want to get the right kind to start with.

What other shops have similar value? I know there will be a cost increase for additional atomizers. Should I get more cartridges? I think I'd rather have a 3rd battery than a pass through. The idea of being tied to anything does not comfort me. ;)

Valuevapor does not have the best selection of juice so I'll be searching out a couple good sources for that. I already know I'm not going to bother with tobacco flavored juices. I like tea, but really? Tobacco flavored tea? Anyway, I'm really intrigued by the idea of cloves (loved smoking cloves, but they got too strong for me half a dozen years back). Anyone have a few suggestions on where I can get starter packs of juice, in various flavors? I think 12-18mg/l nicotine will be sufficient and if not, I'll vape more if I need it until I can get some stronger stuff.

Anyway, sorry for the long winded post and I look forward to your responses!

2 or 3 batteries are fine. a few extra attomisers wont hurt. 1 ml equals I pack of cigs as far as nic- but vaping will depend on how big of drag you take, and your equipment. Standard will be fine for you. You can find cheap knock offs, but Ill reccomend this site. Grab a kit of some sort, extra cartidges, extra attomisers, and some liquid. A couple 15 ml bottles of 18 mg will do for now. Cignot.com

Welcome to ECF, sounds like you did your homework, and very well indeed. :)

An ego kit, 2 batteries charged should last you well more that a day. If I understand your post correctly, you're about a 1/2 pad smoker. 2 ego batteries lasted me a day (reformed 1 1/2 pad addict). The ego mega atomizer is just a bit larger in diameter that a regular 510 atty, makes it the same diameter as the battery, look better that way. An extra battery and an extra atomizer is a good idea, murphey is alive and well and his law reigns in the vaping world.

Juice-wise TopVapor USA E-Liquid carries good quality, good price samples. And a lot of simple single flavors, good to start out with and find your own taste preferences. (I like licorice, lemon, menthol, and a half dzn others YMMV)

Consider this:

https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-ebt-all.htm

This is the newest eGo-t with the larger tanks. It has 2 batts (you can get the blue manual ones) and two eGo-t attys and 5 tanks which you can also get in blue. charger, wall adapter...

Each battery will last you about 6 hours - ymmv and the tanks which hold 2.5ml of ejuice should last you all day according to what you describe.

You can also use the 'mega eGo atty' and the matching cartridges - which have the filler instead of a tank:

2.5ml atty/carts:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/ego-mat-all.htm
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/ego-mct-alb.htm

1.5ml cone attys/carts:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/ego-mao-all.htm
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/ego-mco-alb.htm

or you could use any 510 atty or cartomizer and then you might want to pick up a cone:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/ego-acv-all.htm

A bit more money but you're getting the latest plus another atty.... you want more than one so with this you can vape a while having backup if needed and decide if you want to try the other options....

And Welcome to ECF!!

I average 1 pack a day. I just can't stop a lot at work :D As far as the tank system, I know it's new and some folks are having issues. Is that because it's new or because the system is flawed?

There are more people without problems - the ones with problems post more :) I've had them since late December without any problems. I clean the atty with a 15minute 151 vodka soak when performance drops or there is any burnt taste - rare but it happens. You could get the regular eGo kit - the starter kit lite at liberty flights - don't know about color choices - hit the 20% off in the up left corner first and get the Riva lite kit for $29.95 and later you can buy eGo-t attys and tanks. You should at least try the tank system because when it works it is minus all the other problems that you'll also read about with non-tank systems :) I've had a lot of ecigs/pvs and imo, this is the top of the evolutionary chart at this time - other than going with certain mods... even though most of those are now stored away.

Yes and yes, the manufacturers tend to rush the products to market and we're the guinea pigs.
Many attys and cartos can be a V2 or V4 till they get it at least close to right.
E-cigs are so new, cutting edge there's another new, best idea yet coming out all the time, but even in the state of development they are in, they DO WORK cutting down and or out smoking.:)

Not a big fan of the tanks myself but, other people do love them.

The good points when they work right:

Easy to fill tank and it's easy to see when you're running out.
Consistent vape.

The bad points and many of these are when they don't work right:

The attys are pretty expensive.
That puncture plate with the wick is a weak point. It's very easy to get one with the wick improperly positioned.
The puncture plate makes it harder to get the atty clean.
Cooler hit with less throat hit and flavor.

I don't mind tinkering with it and with a little adjustment, I was able to get it working pretty well. If you're not able to do that, I'm not sure this is the one for you. The killer for me was the loss of flavor and throat hit and that's a subjective thing. Now I use Boge cartomizers when I'm out. A few drops every few hours keeps them going. It's almost as convenient though after a few days they get grungey tasting and you need a fresh one. I have 15 on order that I got for a little less than $20. So, not a large expense compared to cigarettes. I prefer dripping when I'm around the house.

I've got some LR atomizers on order and I'm going to give the tank another shot with those.

All of the above said, not a lot of info is available for the Super-B. It's possible there are more differences than just the larger tank.

So, I ended up with the Riva 910 kit from Liberty Flights. I got a spare atomizer, some smart carts and some juice. Now to find out if I goofed this order up or not :D Should be fine, even if I have to fine tune some parts.

910??? 901 or 510...maybe? The smart carts are debatable. Mixed reviews on those. I would have recommended some Boge cartomizers and a drip tip but, if this is your first kit, you did a heck of a lot better than I did on mine.

Kudos with the 901! It's my baby and it's kept me completely off the ciggies without a single craving. Each to their own but I LOVE the 901!!!!

Good luck in your 'quest' my friend, I hope you kick the deathsticks :)

Thanks all for the warm welcome and the help in choosing my first rig. I can honestly say I've stumbled upon something akin to what happened when I started leatherworking. The research, the trial and error, the heartbreak over not being able to afford the latest gadget. It's amazing what life can do to you! That hobby lasted about 5 years. I hope this one lasts much longer :D

Now I just need to get caught up with all the latest legalese and see if there's anything I can do other than cry 'Leave us alone you...you...FDA!'
