I am 45 years old and have been smoking since i was 13, I have tried numerous times to quit with multiple methods (patch, perscription drugs, smoker sensation classes as well as the patch) nothing worked. i would either forget to take the tablets or just smoke while i was on the patch or what ever. I was at a field problem (i am military) when one of my buddies pulled his istick 30W with atlantis tank out and started going. After speaking with him for about 15 minutes i decided right then and there to order one online from Mountain Vapor Bake. After getting past about 3-5 days of coughers hack (which is normal for a heavy smoker ((two packs a day))) and the itchy throat, if found i was breathing better, food had a better taste and i have a lot more energy. I found a pack in my ruck sack and my battery was charging so i cracked it open and lit up, I COULDN'T STAND THE TASTE OF THE NASTY THING, after one drag on that horrid cigarrette i put it out immeadiatly. Absoulutly awsome.

Congratulations and welcome, Mauadib. :) It is! It is an absolutely, positively, wonderous and amazing thing. And, Herb is so correct in that there are governments and companies and assns. out there that want you to continue smoking. IF you have any free time, please check out CASAA.org and continue your education on vaping from tests done on the effects of vaping and what is politically going on. Think you will be amazed. The following post by Bill Godshall, one of our most informed and politically active vapers, will get you started.

    what is really funny is that there is so much information out there stating the obvious that this is a viable medical option to quit smoking. i mean for crists' sake, a friend of mine is an asmatic and PG is one of the ingredeants in his imbuteral breathing treatment.

    Welcome and congrats! .... PG is found in scores of products. Most of use have been exposed or consumed PG for most of our lives and never even knew it. It's in makeup, food products and just about everywhere.

    @Mauadib Welcome and congratulations!

    Yes, it's legal... for now. I hate to break it to you, but this wonderful way to quit smoking is under attack.

    If you haven't already, please sign our petition to tell Congress to reject the FDA's deeming of ecig/vapor products as tobacco products (if they successfully do this, they could easily ban new vaping innovations, and they have stated that they want to use 2007 as the date after which all products would need to undergo a very expensive approval process, and likely not be approved - this would remove every decent piece of vaping gear from the market.)

    I may have my dates a little mixed up, but from what I understand, vaping technically cannot be marketed as a smoking cessation device, otherwise it would fall under the jurisdiction of the FDA, although with a wink and a nod that's what almost everyone here is using it for. That's what happened several years ago when the FDA tried to have vaping products classified as a drug. The industry fought it and won because they didn't want the heavy restrictions that the FDA imposes on pharmaceuticals (imagine having to conduct drug trials for every ejuice you want to put out before it can be approved for sale by the FDA). So now the approach the FDA is using is treating it as a tobacco product, while also falls under their jurisdiction.

    Welcome to ECF - a much nicer place than Arrakis!

    Your experience mirrors that of many of us, and it only gets better.

    (And maybe get your buddy a bottle of his/her favorite juice in thanks for potentially saving your life! :thumbs:)
    not only did i get my buddy his own juice but i bought him a whole rig just like mine. he had a truck fall on his chest a long time ago and lost all but 27% of his lungs, but could not quit smoking. he has now

    And also join CASSA (it's free) and sign up for their "Calls to Action".

    And if this happens (and nothing new gets approved), this is what we will be left with (my first e-cigarette in 2006).
