Mine's from the last batch also & I have the same problem. Fits on the provari, but wouldn't fit a silver bullet or
bolt. It did works using a 510 to 510, but who wants that.

Really stinks it won't fit the chi you! I'd be pretty bummed over that. Sucks because I'm in the market right now
for a nice mechanical.

They (AC9) aren't cheap. It would seem like they would exchange the bottom for one that's threaded right. You
should write them. I'm curious myself.

Thanks for the heads up & keep us posted if you hear anything.

It is disappointing. Just on visual inspection, it looks to me like the threads aren't cut deep enough. It's the only RBA I've ever had an issue with. I recall, a long time ago, there was a similar issue with some of the Vision Extremes, when they first came out, which are a CE2 type device. Other than that, I was very surprised to see it with a hand made high end device.

That seems pretty crappy that they don't even care. If you're spending $150 on an RBA, you expect it to work. And if it doesn't, that is the fault of whoever produced it. It's only logical to assume that if they screw it up, they should fix it. My suggestion, people should say screw you and start buying the Smoktech clones if that's the way they want to treat their customers. I have lost a lot of faith in RIP and crew lately.

I did contacted them about this issue about 3 weeks ago and they offered to send me a replacement bottom if I send my original back. They admitted that it did have issues, mine was from the 2nd batch and bought at premium thru an FB group. They suggested that I could try lubricating the thread and slowly turn it to sit plush on my mods which was a caravela and a chi you. It did not worked so I took matters into my own hands and sanded the dang 510 connector/threads on said bottom part. Now it sits plush on both mods. if only i can get it to work properly I would be happy with it.

Well. at least they acknowledged that there was a problem. I ordered a die from Amazon, which hasn't arrived yet. But I just plan on chasing the threads on mine, when it shows up. The thread size for 510 connections is 7 x .5 mm.

I received my 7 x .5 mm die in the mail today. I took my AC9 apart and chased the threads. It now threads perfectly into all of my mods. For whatever reason, the 510 threads weren't cut deep enough when it was made.

Thanks for the tip. Very good to know.

Where did you pick up the die?

Where did you pick up the die?

I searched Amazon for metric dies. I found mine here: http://www.victornet.com/tools/Metric-Dies/133.html
Scroll down until you find part # RDM-7-.5-B
I also bought a cheap handle, to hold the die.
After chasing the threads all the way, the AC9 threads ended up perfect.
I realize this shouldn't be necessary, and is a pain in the neck. But it was either this or be stuck with a $140 RBA that didn't work properly.
