Isn't it fascinating that this man is still remembered after almost 2,000 years? I love it! I do think he was an honorable man and wrote down as he was instructed. Josephus may have been in the crowd that watched Jesus ascending into the clouds.

I was on another board site (one my husband put together for he and all of his football buddies) and the question was posed: "What in the history of mankind would you personally like to have witnessed. I put Jesus ascending into the clouds. I would have loved to have seen it! But, I wasn't born for that time. Sigh.:(

Josephus was very likely in Jerusalem at the time of crucifixion. He may well have witnessed the darkness, earthquakes and tombs opening. Not many were happy with Josephus as he wrote of Christ. Especially the Jewish nation.

I would have just loved to see Him face to face while He was here....what a blessing it would have been just to be able to look at him.......I think about that alot. How lucky those people were back then and most of them didn't even know it.

But right after that, the Christians were turned into kibble and bits for the lions. Those poor people.:(

I just watched a TV program discussing the documentation found affirming the (followers of Christ and pagans alike) eyewitness accounts of earthquakes that occurred during the Crucifixion AND the total eclipse of the Sun (which ordinarily could not have happened during that particular time of year). If I can retrieve the actual information I'll add it to this thread. (Big 'if' however!) :)

I know, it's too horrible to even comprehend. I like to think that they were filled with the Holy Spirit so that they didn't suffer. Just hoping........but we know for a fact that their sacrifice was seen and noted by the Almighty. Still sad tho. :(

And what's even worse is that it's going to happen again, people will be slaughtered because of their faith. This story isn't over yet.

I would want to think that I would have dropped everything and followed Him for 3 years.....everywhere He went......even helping with the Last Supper preparation......drawn the water from the well so that He could use it to wash the feet of the disciples. (It dawned on me that the word discipline was probably derived from disciple. SG, did you study anything about that? Thought it might have come up in your studies. :))

I can see it now....."honey, I need you to watch our 7 children so that I can follow after a new rabbi for 3 years. I'll be back after that, I promise!" That would have probably gone over like pooh in a punch bowl. To soak up the words of Jesus, spoken from his mouth, is to me, the epitome of being happy. That's what I want to do in Heaven. I'm sure He'll turn around and say, "L, you've walked behind me like a Japanese bride for 1,000 years. Can you give me a little space?" My heart gets overjoyed when I think about being with Jesus everyday. My heart quickens, ya know? No more jealousy from anyone, no more fat on me.....yeah....to be with Jesus anytime I wish. Wow! I'm ready to go! I've got my 'rapture' bag packed with oil and wicks and I'm patiently/impatiently waiting, holding my lamp and looking out of my window for the Bridegroom.
