the lion's share of campaign funds comes from individual American citizens .. tobacco industry's campaign contributions during the 2012 election cycle : $54 million overall .. a paltry number ..

True, but did you know corporations are considered individual american citizens under law. Thats where the money is coming from gotta read between the lines.

DC, while I as many here disagree with ANY surcharge, It really can be worse (more expensive). I looked into life insurance and my rate was double, as they consider ANY nicotine use as a risk.

I would look into enrolling into their cessation program and be like the other 93% who cant quit using their terrible methods. They cant fine or fire you for not being able to quit. Or simply ask about the gum and patches.

That's pretty much going to be my opening salvo.
But I am prepared to take it further than that when their response is loaded with crap.

dc, this may not be the quit advice some give ,dont quit, cheat lie use what ever you can an immoral law is not a law or rule, just a barrier for just people by evil forces.I mean that.
There is now way I'm going to lie.
On that I have almost pretty much decided.

The consequences of that could be catastrophic for me.

If my approach does not work, and I have no illusions that it really will, I will pay the $50 per month.
I can afford it, although I feel very, very bad for those that can not.

I will, however, make my voice heard before I agree to pay.
And I hope to leave them questioning the basis for such an absurd policy that includes electronic cigarettes.

That is the court telling the FDA that they can not regulate electronic cigarettes as a drug delivery device.
And the ruling includes a "suggestion" that the FDA can regulate electronic cigarettes as a tobacco product under the FSPTCA.

But until the FDA "deems" them to be a tobacco product under the FSPTCA they are not.
Although that is what appears to be coming with the "deeming" regulations proposal that will come soon.

Don't see the big issue

Save the $50 and participate in the program. They pay the cost so they will lose double!

Our company has similar and it simply requires 3 coaching call with-in a time frame to qualify. As my wife is still a smoker, we go through this every year.
So what if I go through the program and then I don't quit using nicotine?

Might want to pay attention to what vegetables you eat and how much also. The attached study below talks about nicotine amounts in vegetables and testing positive on urinary cotinine. According to the graph, 10 grams of eggplant contains the equivalent nicotine of sitting in a room of second hand smoke for 3 hours....

Respect the view no not lie, to me its a money grab that has my wallet in its sights. I have been a smoke/vape person only when drinking(part timer, call me what you like) for my whole life, and its 110% easier to quit for a few weeks. Its 120 bucks a month more for many insurance companies right now ,who knows the future.hope it turns out for you, your advice is always the bomb.

Sad thing is, I know dozens of non-smokers that have beat their insurance to death running every time they get a sniffle.

I have been in the hospital once in over 55 years that was not a severe injury. Throat damage due to Acid reflux.(never knew:blink:) Heck, my personal overage account covered the cost.

Same B.S. on the employer claims of Smokers being more costly. I haven't missed a day in over 7 years. Facility avg. is 5 days per person missed anually.
