LOL I got over it once I was about $700 into all the "stuff". My downfall was all the flavors available...and some of the "hardware". But once I found what I liked best, I stopped collecting and experimenting, and stuck with what I like. I'll still "upgrade" in the future, and experiment now and then, but all in all, I'm happy now!

BUT...I'm really not much of a "collector" of anything. Too much "stuff" to clean, organize, etc. gets on my nerves. hahahaha

I got a few found the GoGo and haven't looked back. It gives me all I need. I may build a few mods just for the hell of it and experiment with juice... Well maybe a 2nd GoGo and well maybe when they come out with the GoGo adapters I might!@#$%^&*( Oh well I'm still saving $ over analogs and I might just live a little longer :)

I'm coming up on 7 months of vaping, and I finally reached a "smoother" place about a month ago. I think I may be interested in a Darwin, but now my liquids and methods are pretty much routine. I am also waiting for a large capacity carto that tastes as good as dripping, and doesn't come with a line of people complaining about it. But if I had to stop where I'm at right now . . . I am very satisfied. It just takes a little time to find your place.

Which big carto is that?

I weaned myself off the pv/shopping addiction. It was annoying how it was starting to take over and literally become a burden.

I'm not one of those "gotta have the newest thing" type of people in general, I just don't care enough. I wanted a cig replacement, found it and I moved on with my life. *shrugs*

As long as this keeps up the manufacturers have every reason to continue deliberately avoiding standardization and keep controlled stage propitiatory devices, carts, etc etc.
Yep, there is a good side in this - let the markets (eventually?) start narrowing it down to the best of the best. I also fear this makes a big 'stumbling block' for the mainstream masses.

Anyways, yep, I got caught (to a degree) and its why I always recommend first-time buyers do go for something... at least somewhere up there in the middle in terms of power and 'latest'. Ego for example. Just try and stick with that for as long as possible and then again, when you upgrade - really upgrade.

But yeah, its really dangerous having an account at a few good supplier websites nicely hooked up to the paypal account (or credit card) and with just a few clicks - voila - the latest gizmo, tweak, mod, upgrade heheh

+1 on what FreakyStylie said. I'm a bit past 7 months but by the time I'd reached 6 months of vaping I'd found what worked best for me in hardware and methods and liquids so the shopping sprees have ended. I've never been one to need to try every new thing that comes out so while there's no doubt I'll still try something new every once in a while and need to restock supplies I'm finally in a happy place. I won't have saved money this first year but neither will I have spent more than I would have spent smoking so all is good as far as I'm concerned.:)

That's what I'd like to know. Just waiting around for something like a tank mod that doesn't have everybody complaining. I hear both good and bad in equal amounts with the MAP tank, so I won't go there until the good outweighs the bad. I am hearing good news about GoodProphets' SSR tank. We'll see when it comes out and more people get to test it.

I'm not sure I agree. I'm certain that the manufacturers are completely aware that the finicky, trouble-prone nature of these devices is keeping the market small. Face it, when they first came out, the biggest stumbling block was the fact that smokers wouldn't accept anything that didn't resemble a cigarette. The eGo would never have made it in 2003 when these things were invented. Going with that cigarette size meant compromising a LOT and it's still necessary. Look how many people come in here insisting on something that looks like a cigarette.

For something like the eGo or mods to make it, you must have a market base that is dedicated to vaping as opposed to smoking and want a better experience no matter what it looks like. That's only come about fairly recently and the manufacturers are just beginning to address that market. There will eventually be something that works really well. It's just going to take some time.

I also think that as this market grows and people see more people vaping different devices, the fixation on cigarette resemblence will fade.

Another thing I have noticed among potential new people is the expectation that the smallest e-cig might be the better or 'newer' models.
This is 'natural' because one sees that in MP3 players and other tech and gadgets as a sort of rule. So, in addition to the cigarette resemblance thing they might go there. Avoiding the 'bulky' and perceived to be possibly 'older models'.

Of course, the e-cig is not there yet. Bigger is better at this time. Certainly bigger than the 'mini' mock-cigarettes.

But yeah, I do hope this does eventually work towards some kind of standard. I really do think we are losing people. As much as we gain 'keeners' and 'mod addicts' (and I admit to being one to some extent) I think we might lose a few who see 400.00 a month bills and a kitchen drawer full of non-matching parts.

Hoping for the happy medium.

There's a physical limitation that's going to be very difficult to get around. The devices you mention are able to get smaller because it's possible to engineer more efficient components. The thing is that to transform a volume of juice into vapor takes a specific amount of energy. You can't change it. So, in the absence of a new battery technology, you aren't likely to get much smaller.

But yeah, I do hope this does eventually work towards some kind of standard. I really do think we are losing people. Actually, I think it's getting there. The 510 is rapidly becoming the standard. More manufacturers are coming out with more stuff that fits 510s than any other thread type. It will take something truly revolutionary to replace it.

I'm also noticing the 510 is starting to become something of the 'standard' and I hope the industry sees that may be a great way to open up to more new and 'typical consumer' types who don't want 3 different models each with their own exclusive parts, upgrades.

Something like an Ego is enough for me. As much as I'm tempted to start ordering the various mods or 'upgrade versions' (some seem to complain they are not better),
but,
basically I realize I can stay here for now.

.....and then again I just ordered an XPower 900 so there ya go lol! (and i keep eyeballing some drip tips .. must resist.. urge..)
