You are right addiction is definitely complicated. I was lucky enough to have stopped analogs entirely the day I got my first ecig kit. My husband however still has the desire to have a cigarette now and then. I think the key is: A. don't set yourself up for failure by demanding perfection. B. Don't rush yourself. C. Know that ONE cigarette you don't smoke adds 7 minutes to your life. Don't kick yourself for having a cigarette. :)

Hope this helps.

I also would suggest the Friends of Bill forum. Or go to some meetings.

Alcoholics tend to suffer from depression. Cigarettes contain an MAOI inhibitor that does help control it. Mentally I have been feeling off center. This is what I attribute it to. I know it's not the nicotine, I get plenty of that!

My first two weeks I went totally manic. Have the supplies to prove it. Didn't sleep, was out of control! Then I went in the other direction.

I did get to a meeting the other day and it made a world of difference.

Hope this helps you.

Hi :) Good to hear you're calling up your sponsor and hope things are going well. I was MIA from here for a good while on a run. Met a guy who doesn't mess around that walked me through the work as soon as he qualified me and I said I was done. Don't think I'd recognize me from 4 months ago if I met him. Unbelievable to have hope. Not sure where you're at with moving your feet, but if you're not - it's there if you want it.

Glad to see this topic. I have 3 years in the program and have been vaping for the past year. Bottom line is that nicotine is a drug and is mood altering, but so is caffeine. The difference is that it is not making my life unmanageable. I am open and honest about it with my sponsor. I know not to trust my own thinking. I like the definition of alcoholism and addiction as a mental obsession, coupled with a spiritual malady, and a physical allergy. While working a program works the mental obsession and spiritual malady, the physical allergy is always there and I have to be weary of anything that will spark it. I steer clear of Tylenol PM cause I know that could take me out. Be careful. Talk about it in the meetings.
