Advice for getting a new better tank (towards sub-ohm but not)

Hi
Hope someone can help me a bit here.

Just ordered a joyetech eVic-VTC Mini, and I'm looking into getting a new, better, preferably bigger tank (upgrade from Nautilus).
The Nautilus is decent, but not without flaws. Have to use pliers to open it, juice wobbling etc.

After some reading, I don't think I need sub-ohm. But maybe close to it.
I only vape mouth-to-lung hits, and don't need all that mega vapour cloud.
But I do want to give some nice fat clouds, more than the Nautilus gives.
Also would prefer if it didn't burn huge amounts of juice/battery.
Aaaand I don't build coils.

So where am I, and which tank/resistance/setting/etc. would be great for me?
Temp. controlled seems good, I should try that right?
(How) can I go higher than sub-ohm and still get decent fat vapour and mouth-to-lung hits?

So far, I'm looking at these tanks, but I'm at loss:
Kanger Subtank Plus/Mini.
SMOK TFV4. But that's only for sub-ohm and lung-hits, or?

Cheers

I wish I could give you more advice, but I just wanted to say to forget about the Smok TFV4. IMO it was designed for cloud chasing, and I don't think there's any way to close it down enough to take MTL hits. On top of that, it does blow through juice quite fast (I started DIYing so it became a non-problem) and if you're using stock coils you will need at least 60+ watts. The Smok TFV4 seems to like usually 80+, I use mine at around 100w with the quad coils. While you could wrap your own coil, the airflow is still comparable to an RDA with big airflow.

Hopefully someone will come with some good recommendations! Good luck finding the right tank for yourself!

You cant go wrong with a subtank mini... it comes with an above ohm and a sub ohm coil, and an RBA deck that already has a coil built and installed in it.

You can use the above ohm vertical coil until its done, swap to the .5 ohm coil on lower wattage and a smaller airhole and finally try the RBA deck.

I have the Crown, Herakles, Arctic, ISUB, ISUB G, ISUB APEX, TRITON, TFV4, and the subtank nano, plus and mini... I think the subtank is a very good choice for a "tweener" tank.

The eVic-VTC comes with:
eGo One Mega tank (could be ok).
1 nickel coil (0,2Ω).
1 titanium coil (0,4Ω).

So maybe I could start experimenting with that, and find a modest not-draining setting using the 0,4 ti. coil?.. Unless the flavor will be gone then.

The ego one mega is a good place to start. It holds 4 mil and has a good ability to adjust the airflow. I prefer to use it in wattage mode with the CLR (rebuildable) coils. The CLR heads wick better imo.

You might want to look at the subtank mini or plus. The version 2 tanks come with a 1.5 ohm coil that does mouth to lung (tighter air restriction) that can give you a bit more cloud production. I believe the Atlantis has a 1.8 ohm coil that does the same thing. If you want to see an example, check the video below and look at the 27:00 mark on.

Uwell Crown beats the Subtank by far and blows the Smok TFV4 tank out of the water. Also has cheaper coils than both and has a re-buildable deck you can purchase separately for about 10 dollars. Pre made coils come in kanthal, nickel and titanium flavors as well. Tank itself is around 29.99 retail can be found online if you shop around for as low as 20 bucks on sale.

Isn't it a sub-ohm tank? Wide tip etc.

I've got an arctic tank that has 1.2 ohm coils available for it then if you wanted to try sub ohming you could just pop in a 0.5 ohm coil . The coils are lasting me about 4 weeks which is really good and are 3 quid each so less than a pound a week on coils .not really worth building your own at that price. It's well made too and mine cost me 20 quid so wont break the bank . Good luck on your search let us Know what you decide on .

Hi thanks.
But this also looks like a "sub-ohm tank" build, meaning that it has a wide tip, not suitable for oldschool mouth-to-lung hits.
Unless it's fine for MTL or the tip can be replaced with a narrower one?

I'm strictly a MTL vaper and these are the tanks I use daily.

The Subtank Mini. I build a 1.2 to 1.3 ohm coil in the RBA section and with the AFC on its smallest hole it's a great MTL tank!

The older Kayfun Lite + (the Nano version) I build the same ohm coil as the Subtank. Amazing MTL tank for flavor and good vapor production! I use the regular stainless version and the Undead version. The Undead version has drilled out airflow but it's still restricted enough to be a great MTL tank!

I also use cartotanks like the IBTankeds. No better tank setup for flavor out there period!!

No need to buy other tanks, just get some CLR heads for the Ego Mega the kit comes with.
1 ohm version gives a good mtl.
Also you can get CLRs in Ni200 and titanium to fully take advantage of VTs temperature control.

Hi, thanks. Yes I start with the Ego Mega tank and see what it can, stick with that for a while, maybe longer if it's good.
Could you link to some of those you mention, so I have a better idea?
Titanium VT 1 ohm sounds very good.
Edit: oh, aren't those rebuildable coils? I would like to avoid that ;) Unless it's easy and hassle free

Just remember, Mowgli, the more clouds you see the more juice you're using.

I went from a std ProTank 2 then added an airflow controller then started making my own coils. At each step I used a little more juice.

Then I purchased the Nautilus and that upped my juice consumption.

Next came the Subtank mini because I failed at making good vertical coils for the Nauti's; however, can easily rebuild horizontal coils for the OCC as well as the RBA.......BUT! Holy cow, the juice! It's like I'm drinking the stuff, and I'm building to 1.5 ohms being a dedicated Tootle Puffer.......

I'm now learning to DIY. Ha! :)

Edit to add: I still use my ProTanks/Davides with my rebuilt coils and AFC which give me good flavor and enough cloud to satisfy.

You might want to give the GS Air tanks a look. It comes in 2 sizes. The coils are 1.5omhs, or you can also get .15ni200 coils for TC. The airflow is very versatile. From a very tight eGo type draw, to an open draw, close to the second setting of the Subtank mini. The price is pretty nice too. Most places sell it for around $8-$12.
