Hi guys, im a newcomer(obviously) and would like to know what type of electronic cigarettes would be good for someone completely new to smoking.
I have only tried real smoking once or twice, didnt really hate or like it, but would like to try smoking. I'd rather start with e-ciggs to make sure whether I'd really go into smoking or not. Since it is supposedly safer than real smoking.

Damn... forgot to add the part about dissuading me from smoking.
Well, I would still go on to real smoking even if i do not go to smoking e-ciggs. Considering the fact that my entire family smokes(except for me and my mom). I won't really cite stress or health problems as an excuse to start smoking. I simply just want to try a healthy alternative to smoking. Its either this or real cigarettes.

Well, i expected to get most answers like this, since most of the people here were smokers and are trying to quit.

Isn't the OP in a country that has outlawed PV's? "Singapore" rings a bell as one of those areas of the world that is fighting to make sure their fellow inhabitants only have "healthy" burning tobacco products.

If that is true, then just not doing the same thing everyone else around you is doing seems like the best course in this instance.

(Sure, since being freed of being slaves to our tobacco addictions, most of us are a bit jaded.)

It's simply a fact that from now on, more and more people will want to start up with an e-cig instead of a tobacco cig.

That is going to be one of the biggest debating issues we have. If they are going to smoke anyway, isn't it better they vape instead? Or, should we tell prospective nic users they are making the wrong decision and go away? We need a professor of philosophy or something to sort that out...

I read that almost all smokers start young, no idea if that's true though. Adults should be able to make their own decisions. They do it when they buy a whisky. Or maybe this is a glass of wine vs a jug of whisky decision.

Anyway, whatever you advise somebody, there will be plenty of others telling you that you did the wrong thing. No way to win in this one.

totally agree with what he said. Although it's illegal in singapore, i can still probably get one from one of my contacts. A few of my friends have one already. But they got theirs for like under 10-30 bucks SGD. I've been looking around this forums quite a bit and the ego something seems to be pretty good.

WOW... just when ya think you've seen...

Judgements aside, Noblesse, if you're gonna do this, then start with an eGo batt/eMDC cartomizer using zero nicotine liquid. At least you'll avoid the nic addiction.

Whatever you do, please DO NOT start smoking tobacco! Cigarettes ask for nothing, but they can cost you your life! shakehead.gif

I'm only 19 years old, started smoking at 17, i quit on and off, but i could never stay off the cigs, so this past summer after having been off them for a couple months, and still going crazy because i wanted the nicotine, i got an e-cig so i wouldn't feel so guilty about my nicotine addiction. Also, yes, i would feel better that if someone was going to start smoking anyway, i'd much rather have them vape instead.

Edit* and to the OP...seriously you don't want to be addicted to nicotine, its just another hassle to add to your daily routine, another thing to worry about, and another thing to spend money on.

Hi Noblesse,
It's estimated that 90% of new smokers begin before age 20, and in the U.S. between 3000 to 6000 newbies per day 'try' smoking for the first time. Using only the conservative low number of 3000, that's over a million new smokers per year, in the U.S. alone.

Although I don't think it's a good idea for anyone to 'start' smoking, I know it's going to happen. Knowing what I know NOW (after 32+ years of analogs), my strongest suggestion would be to stay away from the combustibles, and try an ecig instead; go for VAPOR production and FLAVOR. In addition, if you are not currently addicted to nic, there's no logical reason to go above 0mg.

When I was a child, prizes at school carnivals sometimes were fake cigarettes filled with talcum powder. Instead of sucking on it, we blew through it to create clouds of talcum powder 'smoke'. It was fun as a child, but the closest thing as an adult was a real analog. Times have changed.

Rather than going to analogs, IF YOU'RE GOING TO TRY SOMETHING, a Joye 510 has that analog look, and works pretty well. For more vapor, I like the ego-T, or ego with fluxomizers. Some will tell you cartomizers are better, but I'm not a fan of'em.

Just so you know, I could have bought a house (or 3 cars) for less money than I've spent on analogs over the last 3 decades. In making the switch to vaping (since September 18), I've already spent more than a new 42" flat screen tv would cost.

I'm not sure why folks begin to smoke (or why I ever started), but most of us know why we're trying to quit. I sincerely hope you never have to learn that secret, cuz it's not fun!

Yeap! im serous. Its still better than smoking real cigarettes right? healthier and less costly.
Does the strength mean the amount of nicotine in the e flavours? and is it possible to smoke without any liquid/ without any flavour?

Yes, absolutely. By all means, get an e-cig and be sure to put no juice or liquid in it whatsoever. In fact, the battery is completely unnecessary as well. You can actually get the exact same experience by periodically holding a rolled-up Post-It note to your mouth. This is known as the "zero-mod". No flavor, no stimulant, no juice, cost-effective and healthy. This is what you want, right?

Strength is nicotine strength. It is usually refered to as XXmg and actually means mg/ml. It is possible to get 0mg liquid.

Flavor is important to most of us, but yes, you can get flavorless. It would actually be PG and/or VG if there is not nicotine involved. (Just hover over the letters and the words they stand for will pop up near your cursor.)

With zero nicotine and zero flavor, it would be the safest way to simulate smoking that I know of without getting anything addicting or possibly damaging into your system. PG is used to carry pharmacutical drugs and as long as it is that grade, should be fairly safe to everyone that is not allergic to it.
