OK, if this is any way inappropriate, please let me know and I will promptly delete the content of this post.

I tried selling a used Reo over the last couple of days. My post drew over 400 views but not one offer was tendered. Note that I am NO LONGER OFFERING THIS FOR SALE. This is not an attempt to shill my sale - it's over - at least for now.

I am merely posting this for honest opinions as to why there was so little interest. Is my price out of line? Am I too impatient? Have I over-estimated the worth of a standard Reo which is not an LP, without the sub-ohm contacts? And what is an upgraded 510?...does it only apply to the LP Reo?...or should I send mine in for the upgrade?

Again, just trying to understand why the lack of interest - I saw Reos posted AFTER mine, in rougher condition, that sold quickly while mine sat. Before you click on the link, I would like to repeat that this item is no longer for sale.

Thanks in advance for your honest assessment.

The only reason why I didn't get it was no sub ohm contacts, it wasn't an LP. Granted it could be upgraded to all of that just didn't want to go through doing it. I don't care if it has the new 510 or not. Sounds great for what Mr. Rob is doing on it, but that's not a deal breaker in my opinion. On top of that, I wouldn't have wanted the other stuff included for example the batteries or the atty. I have my preference over those too and from what I understand, the atty I like doesn't work on a Reo that isn't LP. I didn't think the price for everything included was bad, just not my preference in what I want.

Well TBH I thought the price was a little high. Shipping to Rob and back $10 $25 for upgrade kit that alone would add $35 bux to the price. You didn't offer to split them. I have little need for the Cyclone or batteries or door. And I'm looking for a LP that would add to the cost just to get it here. But that's just me. In all honestly the price was about fair but I didn't need the extras. My reason for not getting it.

I have been try to sell REOs as well. 6 months ago, they were snatched up in an hour. I sold one yesterday and it took 2 days which surprised me. It was an LP/SL which typically go fast. I currently have 2 REOs on there now, been 6-7 hours and not one inquiry. I have seen a lot of REOs for sale lately and I think that the demand is being met. I know it is frustrating as I am going through it myself.

I think it's great that you are getting honest responses.

Add: and I remember the REO right after yours that sold in an hour. It surprised me as well. (Seemed suspicious for some reason to me)

I was interested in the grand but not the cyclone. you said you wanted to sell them together so I didn't send a message. I saw it this morning and thought I would pm you and tell you if someone else was interested in the atty I would take the reo but you had already taken in down when I went back to it. I think the last price listed was good for what was offered.
I think most go for the lp and sub ohm, more options when it comes to toppers and coil builds.

I saw it and IMO it was over priced. For what you were asking you were offering the oldest options for the price of a brand new model. Anyone buying it who didn't want it as-is would have to invest about 75 bucks into it to replace the 510 connector with the new stainless adjustable 510, replace the contacts and button with sub-ohm capable parts, and pay to have it milled down to low profile to accept more attys. Or they could just buy a brand new one and not have to do any of that.

Personally, I don't factor batteries into a buying decisions. From my experience used batteries have been bad, charged to over voltage, or been a lot more used than represented. Most times I just (have to) toss them. They don't factor into what I'm willing to pay. :2c:

Might have been the price. Sold my 2 month old Grand similar to yours for $140 on the day I posted it.

Fair enough, and thank you, but this confuses me a bit. The way I figured it was:

Reo Grand Standard Profile - correct me if I'm wrong, but these are $146 new. Does that include the sub-ohm contacts and adjustable 510? If not then it's comparable to mine and 146 bucks.

BF Cyclone - still 70 bucks from Indy Vapor Shop.

Extra door - I know these are 27 bucks, I just bought one.

Button cover - 6 bucks.

Forget the batteries and extra bottles - that's 249 dollars retail. My price was $100 less than a brand new model, unless I am missing something, and apparently I am which is why I posted this. :)

Not arguing, just trying to figure the flaw in my reasoning.

And regardless - it didn't sell. I do know that anything will sell if the price is low enough...

Just my 3¢ (inflation) but it could also be the upcoming woodvil sale. I know I that is what I was saving for before I found a mini that I bought. And maybe Valentine also. Maybe guys are thinking a girlfriend/wife's gift could bring them more happiness. Their wrong of course.

For whatever reason, so sorry you did not get to sell it.

That's very kind of you to say - thank you. :)

Apparently I have a seriously inflated sense of the value of this Reo, so the only thing to do is keep it. I have no problem with that.

The standards on Reos site do have the upgraded gold contacts. I think had you been willing to split you would have been able to sell it. Maybe next time offer to split as long as both pieces get offers.

I did see it but I'm happy with RM2's and the green one I grabbed was just pretty. It is a standard, not upgraded, (came with an RM2 and the custom color=your cyclone and door) The cost was similar.

I think you just have to be patient when there are multiple listings and you are asking top dollar for a used one. I'm not saying it isn't worth what you asked, there's just alot of options for those who shop in the classies.

I think for what it was, the end price of $156 was fair.. if that was a package that someone was looking for. (atty and mod)

I also discount batteries as extras... because I am picky that way and for the cost of the batteries, I would want to know how I treated them for their lifespan. I would tend to toss them.

My opinion is the biggest thing that hurt your sale was the lack of new contacts. For the $25 cost of putting in the upgrade, I think you would have been able to get most of that back in your sale. The fact that is isn't LP doesn't bother me too much, since I can LP it myself in about 10 minutes.

I'm glad you decided to keep it!

Thanks,
Geo

I saw it, but I don't use rebuildables, just 510 atties and cartos, and it didn't have the updated contacts. The last one I bought used doesn't have the updated contacts and im nervous about doing it myself and yes it is that much of a difference. Also, a lot of people have to wait till payday before they can buy. For instance i get paid on the 1st and 15th, even though I'm looking around, I wouldn't have the funds for a few more days.

I always watch the classies. For what you were offering I didn't think your price was out of line. If you figure $60 to $70 for the Cyclone you were giving away the Reo.

I think the biggest obstacles were that the Grands seem to be currently not as popular as the LPs and not having the upgraded contacts. I also agree had you put separate prices and then a package price it may have been more attractive. These things also sell in cycles. When I'm going to sell something I try to watch and put things up when there aren't other similar things for sale. Just my :2c:

I don't think you can have inflated sense of the value of your REO. Your value maybe different than others but doesn't make it wrong. ;)

Thank you, and a question:

I find myself using cartos too just for ease of use. Not that I mind RDAs and rebuilding but cartos are super easy. Anyway, what do the updated contacts do?...are those the sub-ohm contacts?
