Hello everyone,
Ive been reading just about everything I can find on vaping, watching videos, looking through the library here etc. I feel like I have a good basic understanding of vaping now so I'm going to place my first order tonight. I will be placing an order for me and my boyfriend. We have both been smoking for about 14 years and are desperate to quit. We have a 3 year old and I hate coming inside knowing I smell disgusting to her. I have a order ready in my cart at Cignot and I'd like to share it with you. If you could look over it and give me any advice on anything I am missing or maybe a different product I'd really appreciate it. Also keep in mind this order is for 2 people.

1 Joye 510 starter kit ( with the 2 batteries and 2 atomizers), 1 PCC, 2 batteries, 10 empty cartridges

With shipping the order comes to $113. I plan on possibly adding a drip tip. I wanted to get a PV that isn't too far from the size of a cigarette to begin with. We don't have a big budget to get started and I hoping this will be about all we need to get started for 2 weeks. I plan on placing another order in 2 weeks. I'm hoping once I get farther away from analogs I can move up to a larger PV like an Ego or something similar. I stay at home with my daughter so I figure we can get by with one PCC for now. I still haven't decided on a juice to order. I really wanted to order from Tasty Vapor. Everything I've read about them seems awesome and I really want to give them a try. Since they don't offer the sample sizes I don't think I can start with them. I'd hate to get a ounce of liquid and hate it. Plus I'm really not sure what strength or mix of PG VG to get so I figure for now I better stick to sample sizes to get an idea of what I'd like. Any advice on places to get good priced great tasting juice would be welcomed. Thanks!

Make sure it's a manual 510, especially if you want to drip and use cartomizers (which are the 2 ways most people end up vaping because it's more pleasant than cart+atty). I recommend manual AND buy the drip tip. BTW Boge soft-cap cartos are very nice.

Did you check the Joye 510 prices at Cignot.com and LiteCigUSA.net? Ahh you are at Cignot. Good.

And you need to buy some starter eliquid. A prefilled cartridge will last for at most 5-8 cigs worth if drags.

I would recommend buying other liquids at places with samples and small bottles while you figure what what you like. And you may want a locking box to keep the liquids away from children.

If you haven't pressed Buy yet, at least take a look at the PCC at NoSmokeVA.com - it is much roomier than the Joye one. Holds 2 standard batteries and 6 other items. I just wish they made one like that for Joye Mega xl batteries. I use the NoSmokeVA PCC (and standard length batteries just because I like the PCC)

Olliebelle, I think that order from Cignot is a good first step and good choice. Keep in mind these 510 starters batteries do not hold a charge more than a couple of hours depending on how much you vape. For almost the same cost you could get the Riva or Joye eGo with a lot longer battery life from cignot and other suppliers, instead of the standard joye 510 180mah battery, more like 650 and 900 mah. Which stands for millamps per hour, 100 mah = about 1 hour of vaping. The juice vendors are plentiful and you just have to try lots of different flavors from vendors like Cignot, LibertyFlights, FreedomsmokeUSA, Litecigsusa, tastyvapors and so many more to choose from. Good luck and look over the supplier forums here at ECF and gets lots of feedback.

Seems expensive to me.. not sure? I got a more expensive inferno from volcano and my order was only $60... but didn't come with carts.. hmm.

For what you've got listed you can go straight to a Riva, which is comparable to an eGo, instead of waiting on it for later. Check here Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510. Use the 20% off button in the top left corner and go with the lite bundle and all you need to add is juice. I'd order around 30 to 50 ml of juice in different strengths and flavors to increase the chances of finding a strength that will work for you, and a flavor you like.

Olliebelle, welcome to ECF :)

I think you've made some good choices for starter equipment. As Dormouse mentioned, make sure the batteries are manual (push button) instead of automatic. You're right that as you get farther from analogs you *may* want to move up to something larger, but even if/when you do, the 510 setup will serve you well for both a backup, and for situations when you want to be discreet.

You got good advice, too, about ordering samples. Tastes vary widely, and one man's trash is another man's treasure. Most of the suppliers can get you a larger order in a few days, so try to find one you can at least "live with", then order a larger supply. My guess will be that you and your BF will likely find you prefer different juices, although my wife and I have found a couple we both like reasonably well.

Good luck to you both, its a very good thing you're doing, both for your daughter and for yourselves. The most important part is wanting to quit, then its just a matter of finding the equipment that works for you and what flavors and level of nicotine you need to either 1) avoid or 2) at least minimize the cravings. And do stop back by and let us know how its going for you. We're all pulling for you.

Personally I'd go with the Liberty Flights Riva lite bundle. Two of those @$30 each, a couple of spare atty's, and some juice and it'll still be cheaper. She says she wants to get into an eGo type unit soon anyway.

That price does seem high and I just bought a starter kit 4 wks ago from Cignot. Maybe you meant x 2? I hope the extra batteries are the larger ones. They are much better. I would order another charger or two. They are cheap and a good investment. Cignot has samplers and you can choose by nicotine level. Then click on "most popular" to get an idea what others like best.

There is a thread that asks, what are you vaping now, and you will get some great ideas there. Good luck and Cignot is know for great customer service.

Which kit are you getting at Cignot? The ego or the 510?

Edit: nevermind, she's ordering the 510 kit, two additional batteries and a Pcc.

I wouldn't. Batteries only last a couple hours. Why not just get an ego with 8 hour batteries?

Get two complete kits at LF for 29.99 each.

Not that Cignot isn't a great place, it is. But if your on a budget, I'd be cheaper to buy two Riva egos at LF. Then you won't really need a charge case.

You could buy an extra 1000mah battery for approx $20 and that lasts me at least 24 hours.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I really do appreciate it. I have not looked at the Riva. Not sure how I over looked it but I did. The main reason I am thinking of going with the 510 is the size. I'm thinking, and I may be way off, that since it seems to be the best pv that isn't too far from the size of an analog it might make the transition easier. I figure you guys would know better than I would so what do you think? Did you jump right to a larger size pv from analogs? I hate smoking and I'm really excited about making the switch. Was the transition hard or did you find it was perhaps easier than you think?

A few people commented on the expense so I'd like to explain my order again. If it still seems too expensive maybe you can help me find the problem.
1 Joye 510 starter kit $35.00, 10 bank carts $10.00, 2 manual batteries and 2 atomizers bundled together $40.00, PCC $25.00, priority shipping upgrade $3
I have not ordered yet. I was planning on doing it tonight but I think I'm going to take a closer look at the Riva. I'll probably order tomorrow afternoon.

I am thinking of getting my first juices from fsusa. They have good prices and sample sizes. I've read good things about them. Anyone know any flavor that just about everyone loves. I know this won't guarantee that I will love it. I'd be lost without this forum so thank you all.

I vape 510's during the day. I like them with Boge cartomizers. If you don't mind charging batteries frequently then 510 is nice and with a cartomizer it's real small like a cig. A Riva is basically a 510 with different charger and a fat battery that lasts more than 3x as long and can optionally use hotter-hitting parts.

Thanks for the advice I just got 2 of these and it saved me some money. I still need to get some juice but then I think I'm set to start with.

"I've ordered a zillion samples from freedomsmokeusa. They do 3ml bottles for $2.25. I thought that was pretty good. Also, a friend recommended them to me."

This is where I've decided to order samples from. Seems like a lot of people like them. My boyfriend and I have way different taste in food so I imagine it will be the same with juice. Since I saved some money getting hardware I can spend a little more on juice which I'm happy about.

I was in your shoes a month ago! I bought the Joye 510 and stopped smoking analogs the day I received my order. I liked the Joye 510 because:

1. A popular and dependable basic model and the components are sold by most reputable online stores.
2. Just a bit bigger than a regular cigarette.
3. Easy to use and fit into your routine.
4. There are many accessories and options to customize and modify it to your liking.
5. Reasonable battery life for its size (the smaller the battery, the shorter the battery charge will last).
6. The start up cost was reasonable especially when figuring the money I would have spent on analogs and I wouldn't be out a bunch of money if it didn't work.

This is what I bought to start out with:

1 Joye 510 kit
1 Package of 5 cartomizers
1 Drip Tip
1 PCC
1 510 USB Passthrough
Some tobacco flavored liquids and some "fun" flavored liquids at 16mg, 18mg and 24mg.

After using it for two weeks I bought these items:

5 - XL 510 batteries - They last longer than the standard batteries that come with the kit.
1 - 10 port battery charger - I don't use the PCC very much after buying this.
1 - package of blue foam - You can use this to replace the foam in the cartridges. It makes the cartridges work better.
1 - EGO carrying case - Holds several charged batteries, liquid bottles and cartridges or cartomizers and accessories
5 - Empty 3ml and 10ml bottles. You save money by buying larger bottles of liquid, but then you need smaller bottles if you want to carry some liquid with you.

I have recently purchased a 5v Mod because I no longer care if my e-cig looks like a cigarette and switching batteries multiple times throughout the day does become a bit of a drag. I will still continue to use my 510 and I am glad that I bought it. I'll use it for short car trips and situations where I don't feel comfortable using the mod. I'll also be able to lend it to folks that are interested in getting into vaping. The Joye 510 got me to stop smoking cigarettes and that's what I really wanted to do.

I have purchased quite a few liquids from FSUSA. I like their Pall Mall, American Spirits, Wyatt Earp and Hopscotch. I'm currently fixated on the liquids from Backwoods Brew: Casablanca, Hunter's Blend, Malty, Smoke, Peach and Vanilla.

I also found the reviews on this web site to be very helpful for finding quality vendors and liquids:

Vapenstein

Vapenstein "Best of 2010" Awards
Vapenstein "It's Alive!"
Vapenstein "Analog Replacement Sweepstakes"

And of course the ECF is an incredible forum!

Samples are a great way of finding a flavor you like. They do go fast though so when you find a couple of flavors you think you can vape for a while order some larger bottles. The average for juice consumption is around 3 ml per day so keep that in mind when placing orders for larger quantities. You may not vape that much, but it's better to have enough juice on hand in case you do. It sux running out of juice. You'll soon find out how much you vape each day and then you can tailor your orders to suit your needs.

I think you'll be quite happy. I bought the mini 510 first... and within a few weeks I had ordered the Riva. The batteries on the 510 were short lived for sure and I didn't see a PCC being that practical. The Riva, I can vape the day away without worrying about the batts dying.

Yeah, Riva/Ego type e-cigs are a little fatter, but I really love how they fit my hand! I also love that the tip doesn't light up, my kids were waaay to interested in the glowing tips on the mini.

I'm also gonna suggest that you skip buying blank carts.... a Drip Tip is AWESOME though (and replaces the cart completely). It's kind of like a durable plastic straw that keeps your lips away from the hot atomizer -- you just drip juice through it into the atomizer; bypassing carts and yucky poly fill batting. 1-3 drops and enjoy.

I'm also new to this... only about a month in. I did just placed my first order for some cartomizers (cart + atty in one), they seem really popular for when dripping is not practical (like driving). I got mine from ikenvape store, but i hear the boge brand sold many other places are good too.

Another bonus with the bigger battery type e-cigs is that you can use the Low/high resistance atomizers... depending on if you want the vaper to be warmer or cooler.
