Advice on possibly upgrading from V2

Hi everyone!

I've been vaping almost 2 years, but still use the standard V2. I have no friends that vape, only acquaintances that use the large controllable voltage ones. (I don't remember brand.) I'm trying to figure out if I should buy the new EX series or purchase something completely new. I like the look of the EX since it is still slim but does not look like an analog. I don't really understand the sleeve part or the (apparently?) more popular larger models that don't resemble analogs at all.

Money is a concern, since I'm trying to pay down my debt aggressively.. but not a huge concern. Opinions are welcome of brands and devices that work well that will not kill my budget. And if anyone has purchased the V2 EX I would love to hear more.

Thank you all~

I have no experience with the V2.

The last cig a like I tried was a blue.

If you are concerned with size, the closest you can get to cig a like size with an expanded battery capacity and variable voltage would be something like an Ego 650 Variable voltage or Vision Spinner 650 VV(or their 900\1300mah larger sized ones). A step up from that would probably be an itaste vv\vw3.

These are more cigar sized than cigarette sized, but not super huge.

Tops would probably be an evod or an iclear16 or something similar. I would reccomend the iclear 16s.

Personally, I would recommend the itaste vv\vw3 with some iclear 16's, but that may not be the size you want or the iclear16's with a vision spinner if you want to save a few bucks.

I am sorry I can not give you more info on the V2. good luck.

Well I can give you a little advice depending on what you are interested in.

Regulated or Variable voltage?

Personally I don't care for VV because I just use the proper resistance coils in all of my tanks.

It would save you money to buy either a regulated (no voltage adjustment) or a "Winder/Twist" which adjusts the voltage by manually turning a dial on the bottom cap of an e-cig.

Products to look into for a first time user that won't break the bank

E-Go products

Smok Technology

You really can't go wrong with a simple model, but you may find yourself wanting to upgrade right away.

Most people start off with an E-Go of one model or another, including myself.

oh, I also just noticed the v2 uses an 808 thread.

I would really really really encourage you to move to something in the 510\ego threading size like I recommended above. If you really wanted to keep your old cartomizers, you could get an adapter but I would not invest anymore into the 808 size by upgrading to a newere v2. Just my opinion.

I don't understand variable voltage and don't think it's a feature I would use often. I've been fine puffing away on my featureless V2. I'll look into these two, thank you. :)

I don't have that many carts left, which makes it a perfect time to upgrade. My 2 local e-cig shops only carry 1 kind of 808 which is another indication that it is definitely time to upgrade.

Okay, I like the e-gos and now I'm prepared to buy online or face my local merchants. I'm thinking the E-Go T, but I have to question the merchants first.

Thank you very much!

Goatku! There are many options out there if you are looking to upgrade. I think that the V2 is a solid cig-a-like system, but once you experience the wonder of larger batteries, tanks, flavors, delivery systems, etc . . . your socks will be blown clear off. Here are a few of my favorite and well-priced suggestions out there:

This one is simple, easy to use and about the size of a cigar once assembled. You will need juice though . . . keep that in mind . . .
Kanger Evod Starter Kit

This one is sleek, easy to use, and very versatile. It might get you farther with it's VV capability and it's awesome tanks. Kanger Mini Protank 2 Starter Kit -VV

Hope you find something that you like! Your vape experience will change, in a goooooooood way. You can always still use the V2's for when you want to be a bit more stealthy.

Don't be scared, eGo-style systems are awesome and they really work so much better than the cig-a-likes.

I use the V2 EX blanks. They aren't worth it. I just went to take a drag and the damn thing is empty again. I started with V2's cartos and they were not what I expected. They go empty quick and turn out to costing more, not good enough. The EX blank is an improvement but the thing barely hold 0.9ml of ejuice, not good enough. The 808 batteries go dead to quickly, not good enough. V2's ejuice, not good enough. You starting to catch my drift?

If you try another 808 based ecig you'll probably get more of the same. I finally got fed up with the inadequacies of V2 and upgraded. I ordered this Build Your Custom Vape Kit | eGo-C Starter Kit |eGo Twist Battery| Ego Clearomizer | Ego W Kit
I choose the Twist 900Mah batteries and the Mini Protank II. Do yourself a favor and do the same. The craziest part of it all is that this kit costs no more than the inferior V2 kit.

you don't think you would ever use it unless you had it, then you would certainly always use it

When you use variable voltage you can control the amount of current to the coil which affects how hot it gets. This helps determine how much vapor is produced. Also these eGo's and tanks are larger with larger coils and capacity. They can produce far more vapor and a better tasting, more satisfying hit than V2's.

You could always find a local B&M that samples them and try it out yourself if you haven't already.

I think this is a good deal Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape

MVP v2.0 starter kit for $39.99
A MVP v2.0 is what they call a box mod. Maybe as tall as a pack of cigs but not as wide, and even with a full tank weighs about the same as a pack of cigs too.
You can put a smaller tank on it or even a eGo tank on it.
Oh yes, I ordered one of these as well. Great deal.

Hey Goatku!

Welcome to ECF and congratulations for going two years on a V2 kit, that is awesome. It isn't about what you are using it's about what is working for you.

I do hope you will move to a more standardized 510 form factor, it will serve you well over the long term. RubyRoo suggested 2 exceptional kits at vapdojo.com, and I will HIGHLY recommend them for their customer service, they are exceptional. No one is perfect, but they go out of their way to make sure things are right when mistakes are made.

As far as variable voltage, I would urge you to consider it, as it doesn't add much to a kit's cost at all, but is well worth it. Once you have VV and start to see how much better you can make some juices taste, you will understand the joy of it. It isn't hard to figure out, especially once you start playing with it, and it doesn't complicate the vaping experience, but it can enhance it and make it even better.

Good luck in your quest to find new gear, there are a ton of options available, figuring out what will work best for you is the hardest part. I would recommend checking with your local shops to see if they have anything that looks promising. That way, if there happens to be any issues or problems, you can go back in and deal with it directly.

I like the look on the protank, but neither of these are available in my nearby stores (and it's sold out). Having bought online with V2, I want the option to go in the store ask a question, get an immediate replacement, coupons/sales at either location. Thank you for the recommendation!

when i started here at work, one of my bosses was using one of those v2's. probably for about 2 years as well. when i started here i was using and ego twist 1000mah and a kanger pro tank. he made fun of me because of the size of it lol but at about this time he was having issues with his setup. so i recomended he go out and look for something simple like what i was using. came back with 2 vision spinners and 2 iclear 16s. loves them so much more now. thats where i would start

And for when you don't really need a battery, get one of these:

I never used their e-juice. But yeah, just from what I can gather and hear... I need an upgrade. I was hoping the EX would be enough so I could be a cheap-o, but oh well. I'll be very happy once I get it.

For your custom order, it sounds really good. And my husband will LOVE that it has a lanyard since he tells me to get one every time I lose it. It seems like a good deal in comparison to the starter Ego-T I was looking at earlier. (assuming the Ego-T is the Twist..)
