Howdy folks,

Been vaping about 3 months from a pack/day and see no going back. I've taken the path most traveled from ego starter kit to building my own coils in a Kayfun on mech mod. I just can't get away from the Nautilus tanks/BVC coils because they are so fail-safe. I built all types of microcoils with various wicks in the Kayfun and just kept getting leaks. Can I get some advice on a RBA tank or dripper that doesn't leak in any situation? I know the leaks are largely based on how I build the setup, but I want an easy button. Thanks!

I use the ProTanks ... haven't tried the newer models, as mine are several years old.
I have several other tanks too, but these are my daily go-to's
I have never had the regular, or mini size leak on me.
When the wick needs changing, they gurgle and leave a drop or two in the well below, but that doesn't leak outside of the tank, and it's my clue to rewick.

Sorry, don't drip much, but the drippers I have are By Leo ... expensive, but considered one of the best .... just don't care to drag a bottle of juice around with me.
You can check out the "dripper" forums for more expert advice.
Welcome to the forum.

In any situation? That's a tall order, and I have never seen an RBA/RDA/RTA specifically advertised as leak-proof. Getting your wicking technique down pat is the best way to MINIMIZE leakage. For example, I have kayfuns and orchids that don't leak UNLESS I leave them in my car and the temp rises a bunch; they drain out of the airholes every time in that situation. An RDA can always leak from the drip tip if inverted for long enough. I've heard that the GP Spheroid can be vaped from any position, even fully inverted....not sure if that means leak-proof or not.

Agreed, any situation was a steep request. With the Nautilus tanks, I can't make them leak.. Throw a coil in and it's flawless. Leave it in the car all day, put it in my pocket all day, no leaks. With the Kayfun, if the coil/wick/environment isn't perfect, it leaks out of the air hole constantly. Got a US store that sales the Spheroid or another comparable setup?

If your Kayfun is consistently leaking I would look into at an o-ring issue. I don't find the Kayfun to be too finicky with wicking. I make sure to lube o-rings with a little VG or PG when assembled and never have had a leaky one. In fact I use a Genesis mostly so my Kayfuns will sit around unused sometimes for days and not have any juice in the airways.

Did a search and came up empty. I think you have to go straight to the source for the Spheroid.

Which model of kayfun do you have? Original or clone? I have a Russian 91% that leaked no matter what, and only at the worst possible times. It has since been shelved. Now, I have an ehpro kfl+ V2, and it hasn't leaked yet (except in the aforementioned car situation). Ehpro nailed it with this clone imo, I now see it recommended all over this board.

I have the same, ehpro kfl+ v2. I'm a novice at builds, so I'm sure that is largely to blame. Guess I'm just spoiled on the reliability of the Aspire tanks. Need to up my game it seems.

With time and practice you'll definitely get it down. Sooner rather than later, I'd imagine. At 3 months in I still used an ego and a vivi nova, so you're way ahead of my curve lol :) Congrats on what you've accomplished so far!

An idea: If your o-rings are sound and you know they aren't the cause of the leaking, maybe switch up your wicking material just for kicks. If you use silica, change to cotton. If you use cotton, try rayon. Maybe change your coil diameter too. Experiment, it's part of the fun!

If you top fill, then you have to go through plugging the airhole, inverting, tightening, etc. If you use the fill port on the bottom it's a non-issue. I always take a primer puff after I fill though. Cover the airhole with a finger, inhale for about a second (without firing your mod), and take your finger off the airhole right before you finish inhaling. This should serve to pressurize it properly.

The erlkonigin is the most leakless atyy I have had to date. Its in my pocket anywhere I walk(5 mikes a day) in my bag on the bike and is vaped all the time. Did take me a week to get the set up that allows that but now it just sits on my mech. I dont even check the bottom even for sepage cause there is none. Maybe on a plane it might. Even with a perfect build my kayfuns cohld leak. Good build mininizes the risk but they do leak.
