Advice please

It’s not yet a week that I’ve been vaping. I’ve read at least 500 posts on this forum over the past week. Lots to know! I have a smok Novo. I love it so far. No buttons to press, small discreet and low cost. My go to juice at the moment is 24mg nic salt. The TH is perfect for MTL and the flavour is great. What is the equivalent strength for freebase ? Kinda feel like I need something that leaves me satisfied for a little bit longer.
I’d like to stay with a low voltage device.

If you are satisfied with 24mg nic salt,i'd say approximately 14mg free base nic.(For similar throat hit).

Nic salts contain 57,05% free base and 42,95 % Benzoic acid(or other acids). That is how salts can be vaped at a higher mg/ml.Salts and freebase are not 1:1 ratio.

Therefore 24mg nic salt X 57.05% =13.692mg free base nicotine.

There’s a certain amount of disagreement about that one. Some say 24mg, some say 12.

Welcome to the community.
Switching to freebase will not give you more nic hit, just more throat hit. Might try the higher mg nic salt juices.

I dont know. I dont think this is a question with an answer that is going to meet your needs. As far as I know, Kicking up your Nic will not satisfy your for a longer duration. It will only intensify your nic buzz for the same duration.

My understanding is it’s a bit of both. Assuming the JUUL patent graphs are worth anything freebase has a lower blood level that is more even. They only tested one concentration though and it’s not marked so it’s hard to know.
A lot of this stuff is hard to know. It’s not that there aren’t people who know it, it’s just that they aren’t telling.
The classic old school awnser would be the patch. That’s basically a bandaid that uses the nicotine molarity in base as a variable timer to slowly let unprotonated nicotine into your bloodstream through your skin. They can be hand made with literally a bandaid and some unprotonated juice, but because the molarity timings are not publically known afaik doing so would produce a pretty random result. You can buy em at the drug store too of course, though they’re ridiculously expensive.

Can you back that claim up? There was just a thread recently where this was claimed, but not demonstrated -- and labelling in Canada is pretty strict, if I buy DIY nic-salt here it is labelled with the Nicotine content in mg/ml, not the Nicotine/Salt content.

Do you have other information that suggests Nic-salts as sold are being labelled by their nic-salt content rather than their actual nicotine content?

You might want to look into WTA , the alkyloids found in tobacco leaves other than nicotine.

Ah, yes, same person as in the thread I was thinking of. They seemed to make a leap from chemical construction to labelling ... and they couldn't seem to believe it was perfectly easy to make a nicotine-salt product that contained 100mg/ml equivalent freebase nicotine content ... it seemed they weren't so sure by end of that thread (here's the last page of that thread):

Seems like there is likely a legal obligation to label actual nic mg after the process to create salts.

I agree, and this is purely unscientific anecdote, but salts does seem to hit faster but wane faster too. Could be all in my mind, but it feels like if I’m really jonesing I can hit the salts and it passes fast, but I need to chain vape - which I hate. So if I hit the salts, then the freebase, it sorts me right out. Hard to quantify how much salts equals how much freebase, I use 25mg salt in the Flint, 6mg FB dl RBAs.

But that’s me. Frustrating, the first time I quit smoking with vaping, I did not crave cigarettes at all after a couple weeks. This time, it just will not quit, almost a year later. That’s why I’m buying so much gear and trying everything that comes up the pike.

Well, throwing all the potential variables out the window (truth in labeling, actual nic content as advertised, etc) I find that if I want to quash a cigarette craving I need a few (or more) MTL hits from some 50mg salt-based juice in a pod mod. Chain vaping 6mg freebase with an RDA or tank is fun and tastes better, but doesn't seem to satisfy my craving at all - other than keeping idle hands from reaching for a cig.

The amount of nicotine in salts and the amount of nicotine in freebase is 1:1.

So, if you using the exact same device at the exact same wattage there is no need to change strength, just because your wanting to switch to a freebase nicotine.

Just be warned, in most devices 24mg freebase nicotine is harsh on your throat.

No it's not true @jandrew 100ml of 36mg/ml nic salts is made with the addition of 36ml of freebase nic @100mg/ml so the nic content is still 36mg/ml....

Not correct i'm afraid 100ml of 36mg/ml nic salts is made with the addition of 36ml of freebase nic @100mg/ml so the nic content is still 36mg/ml....

@DeloresRose I went through intense cravings for a smoke after 3y into vaping. Nothing really helped but I did ride it out and it eased with time. For me staying away from where I bought cigs helped. Took me by surprise how strong the want was. You are stronger than the craving, just stay strong and know you are strong.

Whatever it takes! I live right across from a carryout so avoiding cigarette sellers is impossible. So when I feel weak, I buy a new atty or something instead of Camel Wides lol. I have quite a collection these days.
