So I have a friend that is looking to quit smoking and start vaping, and he came to the right person to ask about vaping! However, I am challenged with finding him a solution that is under $150, as I would love to have him get a provari starter kit, and start off right! What is a solid unit, that is going to last him a long time, that comes in a starter kit for under $150?

The variable watt Vamo is the answer. The PV itself is $40 and with batteries and a charger comes to about $72. It's definitely the best "bang for the buck" PV on the market. It's VW which has definite advantages over VV. It has a 5 amp switch means there is virturally no limitations as to what you can use on it. It can be powered by either two 18350 batteries, one 18360 or you can make it pysically smaller and use just one 18350 battery. Plus unlike the over priced ego type VV batteries ($25+), the VW Vamo batteries run $11 and last twice as long. Here is one good supplier and a review:

I was considering all recommendations that were presented! They all look like solid solutions, but it will be a matter of what he wants to carry around, but I will defenitly pass this along to him! I was going to push him to get an EVOD or a ProTank, and screw the CE4 clearos, since I can build his coils for him/ teach him how...

I have turned a few people on to vaping. My humble suggestion would be to start out a little slower. I would offer two (2) ego type batts... preferably twist/spinner in the 650ish range...and charger... then I would suggest a 5pack of boge 2.0 ohm cartos (with filling instructions) and either a vivi nova or evod with a few extra heads. In my experience some people find vaping quite awkward at first. It will be much easier for your friend to navigate a simple ego rather than a provari or even a vamo when first starting out. I have seen a few people try it for a few days and give up for various reasons (excuses) ... I'm sure you could get your total down to around $80 which would hurt a lot less than $150 if things didn't work out. Good Luck !

I was going to push the Vision Spinner at My Vapor Store, and have him get 2 EVODS, and I can teach him how to rebuild the coils, and get him setup with Kanthal and Cotton, and even give him good juice vendors.

Its good deal and spinners and twist are good for new vaper and pretty pocket friendly.

KISS! (Keep It Simple, Stupid)

Most non-vapors cringe at the size of an APV or mod until they've been vaping for at least a month or so, so start small format like an Ego Spinner or Twist setup. Something easy to fill and use for the batteries like Mini Vivi Nova tanks or Kanger ProTanks.

Give the spiel on juice samplers until he finds some flavors that he likes, appropriate nicotine strength for how heavy a smoker he is, how much juice to buy and how to estimate usage, etc.

Your hearts in the right place but you can't remove all the hurdles he'll face. Man, if you could imagine the possibilities. You'd probably be more popular than the Pope. The good news is that the technology has come a long way. My advice is http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-merchandise/113637-free-ecf-business-cards.html . He's gonna have to relearn a life of getting his nicotine fix in a different way. If he wants it bad enough, then he'll do what you're doing now.
