So, I'm having fun with ProTanks (I have 2 Minis and a 3), but the whole rba thing seems really interesting. I like the idea of being able to chase the perfect flavor and vapor production through trial, error, success, and practice. I also like how the kayfun seems to allow you to adjust your draw with the airflow screws.

So, if I was to get into RBA's, what would you guys steer me into? A kayfun? Something else that I know little of at the moment?

Also, what supplies would you order with? Kanthal (what gauge/gauges) and Wicks (mm, silica, etc) and or organic cotton?

Thanks in advance for any help! Hope all is well out there.

The Kayfun and it's variations and clones are arguably, at present, the most popular RBA (or RTA... depending in who's talking) there are, with literally thousands of videos, written "how toos" and discussions, available. When you think about it, there's a reason for that.

However... I'm not one of those that says if you don't get a Kayfun type atty you'd be an idiot. There are the Taifun GT and it's clones, the Squape and it's clone - all with interesting, unique and worthwhile characteristics. The best part is, because they all have decent clones, you could get all three types for under $100.

26, 27, 28 and perhaps even 30 gauge. I've played with 24 and 32, but generally you'll find that most coils are 28ga+/-. Wick is your call... cotton, hemp fiber and rope, silica, ceramic and ekowool all have their positives and negatives. Most are fairly cheap, so try them all and decide for yourself.

The gauge of wire you buy depends on the device and the resistance you are aiming for. The total resistance of your build is the length of Kanthal between the positive and negative post. Roughly, you can comfortably use 2 inches between the posts. 32 is 13.75 ohms/foot, 30 is like 8.6 ohms/foot and 28 is 5.7 ohms/foot. If you do the math see what kind of resistance you will have.

With micro coils, it is possible to use more wraps, but 28 is a bit low for regulated devices, like an MVP or Vamo
