See my Blog post

Maybe it will help you get this working.

Thank you, just read all 3 parts. Seems like I am doing everything minus the extra cotton ring around the top. Seems like your cotton is very fluffy. At this point I know my issue is a wicking issue. I just can't solve it. I am going to wash everything and try it again tomorrow. I guess what I will do this time is basically build the coil, take a picture, place cotton in coil, take a picture. I will then post both and wait for you guys to tell me how it looks before I fill.

Hey, I have experience with this! I have 2 Ehpro KFL+ V1's and they work flawlessly, no burnt taste. I saw that they came out with a V2, so I got one. Same EXACT build, but I got burnt taste. I tried everything: coil, wick, juice, ohms, volts, watts, voodoo, everything. It is definitely a wicking issue. The vertical juice channels on my V2 were too shallow, not allowing juice to flow to my wick properly. I sent the V2 back, thinking I had just gotten a bad batch, and ordered another V2. Same EXACT build, same results as the first V2. It looks like Ehpro has different machining specs for the V2. I finally just got out my Dremel and routed out the vertical juice channels. It works perfectly now. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Do you have before and after picks of your juice channels? I'm curious about how deep you went. I have 3 Ehpro KFL+ V2's (2 of the 3 are the dual air control) and haven't experienced dry hits. I'm just curious how deep you went when you routed out your juice channels. Also, you just did your VERTICAL juice channels right? Thanks!

Thanks FAUXPUFF. So it seems then I have some sort of defective clone. At this point this makes some sense. I have tried everything at this point, little cotton, more cotton, snug cotton, etc. Same end result, burnt taste. If you could post some pictures of where you drilled I would really appreciate it.

Thank you, also thank for everyone else who responded and tried to help me out

I have this same problem too, EH Pro. I have another kayfun clone, same setup, build, cotton, juice, everything is the same. The first 5 or so drags it hits like a dream then after the 6th or 7th pull I get this disgusting burnt plastic taste. I've washed it out with dish soap in hot water but that didn't really do anything. I'm starting to think that it might be that taste because I'm using the small clear tank but I didn't put any o rings on it seeing as my other kayfun clone doesn't have any on it either without that burning problem. If I remember right at one point I did have o rings on the clone I'm using now and I was having that same burnt plastic taste and it took forever for it to go away.

Maybe if I use o rings on this tank, the burning taste might go away?

*************** PROBLEM SOLVED ********************

Well after so many builds and let downs I finally solved the issue. I can't believe this was the problem all along. After trying everything and watching every single video I knew problem was a wicking problem but didn't know how to solve it. After reading what FAUXPUFF wrote about liquid not going through the juice channels it struck me. The air controller was open all the all way. The screw was in but it was flush with the base. I tightened the screw half way in, rebuilt the coil, wicked it, assembled it, wicked it, and it worked. By the way, through out the building process I said to my self, if this doesn't work I am going to take a hammer and destroy the hell out of it LOL.

Now I believe I probably used more wick than I should on my coil. I think I might have over saturated the cotton also. This might not be the best but I was in a rush to test out my theory about the airflow being so open that juice was not making it's way onto the wick via the juice channels. I took some pictures that I posted below.

One small issue and maybe someone can help me. It vapes greate, the flavor is great and so is the vapor production. However, when I take a draw I get that gurgling feel and sound. I did tilt it upside down, blew threw the air hole but nothing came out of the drip tip area. Is it a normal characteristic of the Kayfun? Did I maybe over saturate the cotton?

Single coil, ended up being a 1.5 ohms on my Provari, vaping at 4.2v

Thank you all for your help. Much appreciate.

The gurgling is because your wick tails are brushing up against the top of deck, either reduce the wick tail amount, lower coil slightly, or angle coil slightly more. This will stop the the wick tail from resting or hitting or resting against the edge of the deck. Personally, I think your coil is just a smidgen to high and just a little to much thickness in the wick tails.

Thanks for your feedback. I kind of figured it was a little high. On my next build I will lower it a little and create a better length coil. As for the gurgle feeling, is still there but not as much as in the beginning. I am just happy I finally got working :)

Yeah, my tell tail sign of a good KFL+ build is the slight gurgle in the beginning. It'll gurgle slightly for about 10 to 12 draws, then quiet down. For me, the "fresh build gurgle" is a good sign:thumb:. IMO I think it's because I soak the cotton pretty well before I button things up. Now, after quite a few builds, I've got it down to the way I like it and can repeat the builds. That's the key... being able to repeat your successful build is your goal!

If it gurgles, the chamber is probably flooded a bit, and may just be a result of a little oversaturation when priming the wicks or a little flooding from being disassembled. It happens.

Clear it by covering the air hole with a paper towel, flip it upside down, and blow through it. The upside down part is important. ;)
